Those bikes feel... weird.

I still don't know what to think about the lack of forks and such.

The on the fly pre-load/damping adjustment kicks ass though.

If the thing had conventional forks I'd be all over it.

so how does it funk-shin wiffout forks? looks like a rear swingarm turned up on it's ass.

It's got a shock on front. BMW has been doing it for years now (my bike has what looks like a wishbone front suspension), though this design is somewhat different.... And conventional forks or not, the BMW K1200S (to the best of my knowledge) still has the fastest lap ever recorded on a completely stock, production bike at the big track at Nürburgring.

I dont get it. How can you like a bike that has no real shape to speak of... Its FUGLY..bottom line....Its like buying a Tie. Why do we buy the UGLIEST tie that we can find...?

Why do the Germans over engineer everything?

Having ridden Jeffs BMW I can say their front suspension design is pretty bad ass. It doesn't feel any different riding along, just very supple. But once you get into a turn and/or on the brakes and it feels more stable and planted than normal fork front ends. It keeps the front end geometry the same no matter what the bike it doing. You can make midcorner corrections as if the bike was verticle and never once felt unsettled. It also turned pretty easily for a bike of its size & weight.

The engine on the other hand felt dated, alot like my old 1975 BMW R60/6, just more powerful.

What Dub said...

Why do the Germans over engineer everything?

And, actually, the Hossack front-end design is British...
