We've had a ton of new members join up lately, and rather than have a million threads "just saying hi" I figure we can try just one big thread.

If you're a new member, post here and let us know a bit about yourself!

I am sort of new here - have been peeking in, reading the posts, laughing my a$$ off on some of the replys, and thought  I should be posting here.

Give me some slack - I ride a "neked" bike (Honda 919 - as posted below) and maybe not a true humped over "scrunching my package" on the tank, somehow I feel like I could belong (you know to this site and to you :silly: goofballs and a couple of :guinness: concious and responsible elbow tippers and hopefully more of you :boobies: errr - females

If there's one thing that this site needs, it's a Sticky thread, for fuckin' Hoopty and Koolwhip to be bigger post whores. :shakes head:

Anyway... Welcome newbies. Please save your questions for the end of your newness. The thread you are thinking of posting, has already been asked.

Refreshments will be available, if you prove yourself to not suck as bad as your screenname suggests.

Aside from that... Again, welcome.
Big-J will take your coats.

hey ralph

two things you need to add

1. A warning that this site may be addicting

2. That newbies buy beer at Brecks on Wed. nights

This way everyone can be prepared and informed

Howdy Folks,
I just got back into the game yesterday with the purchase of a 98 Bandit. I'm looking for info regarding accesories etc. for Suzukis, as well as a few riding partners.
I live in Golden, just five minutes from Lookout Mountain. Golden Gate/Coal Creek canyons are easy rides from my door.
Favorite set of turns are the first few miles outside of Morrison (when they can be caught without traffic). Down through Deckers is a fun ride too.

Well I'm new to the site, but not to ryding. I've met many of you guys last year at the PPIR suite thing and have rode with some of you guys. Now that I think about it, I can't believe that I haven't become a member sooner........

I'm on of Hoopty's good friends and mostly ride with him and that is how I was turned on to this site. I look foward to meeting the rest of you guys and will try to make it to Brecks.

Well I guess I’ll do a formal introduction, so ya’ll can put a face to the post. :hibye: There was a post way back about who is who, so this is my fiancée and myself.

This post has more details about us.
http://www.cosportbikeclub.org/forums/viewtopic.php?p=47291&highlight=#47291

Anyway, I read a lot of your posts and most of the time laughing so hard. Ya’ll seem really cool, a bunch of class clowns. I think I’ll fit right in. On a serious note, I really respect the emphasis on safety and riding within your limits, yet still having fun. I’ve noticed a lot of knowledge in this group. Anyway, can’t wait to ride with ya’ll.

Hey All,
Just signed up and lookin forward to riding with some of you. I'm a BMW guy but I don't ride with that crowd most of the time (too slow). I had a '91 K75S until July '00 when I planted it in the guard rail on the west side of Monarch Pass. Just got a '99 R1100S in Oct and am having a blast and glad to be back at it. I work nites and dont work Fri-Sun so if anybody's up for a ride sometime shoot me an email.

Laterz,

Jeff

Just wanted to introduce myself.

I've been a member for a while but have lived in the mountains and haven't made it to any outings. I recently moved back to city life and look forward to meeting you guys and hanging out. I like nights in front of the fireplace drinking wine and reading a book... Oh wait that's nights in front of the T.V. drinking Old English and watching Porn.

I actually outgrew the K75S before my accident on Monarch. I was riding mostly with a local sport bike group here in the Springs back then. The accident was a shame really (on many levels  ); that bike was set up sweet (for a K-Bike, at least).

I've never really ridden with BMW people too much as they are a bit sedate for me (riding style wise). They are a great bunch of folks though, and being in the local club gets me 10% off at the shop :D .

I'm a more aggressive rider than most BMW people are so we don't mesh well on rides. I'm all for everybody riding their own ride and not getting pissed because someone else wanted to ride faster or slower and I got a lot of flack (from the same people everytime) for riding faster. I do like to be comfy though, so a Beemer seemed like a good choice and I've been wanting an R1100S since before they came to the States.

So, now that I've got one, I'm looking forward to all this damn sand & gravel getting kicked off the roads 8) .

Anyway, I put a message in the Canyon Carver list for a Salida run tomorrow (4/7) if anyone is interested. Let me know (via email so i get it right away).

Welp this is bad.

I came on these boards because I am thinking about selling / trading my 93 GSXR, and wanted to check out the "For Sale" forum. Of course like a jackass I started surfing around the various topics and no sooner did I click on a few threads I spit coffee all over my monitor from laughing too much.

This place is out of control, my kind of joint! Guess Ill be sticking around as the new kid.

So this is my official "Hello".

Name is Chad, live in Littleton, ride an old 93 GSXR with some nice mods (wanna trade?), full D&D exhaust so you'll hear me coming.

But I have to say, having loud pipes gets you seen! They have saved me from being hit twice now, plus the look on an absent minded drivers face when I pop the clutch and blip the throttle ... priceless :D

Ditto my friend. I just got my Monster 620 used and it has D & D's too. Was going to change them but "loud pipes save lives". Besides, the looks I get from hardcore Hardley riders is hilarious when I pass them!

What about an old member? Old meaning from awhile back but left a year and a half ago to find herself and found herself first in Vegas, then on the East Coast, racing, working, riding, and dating a horse jockey (and loving it)!! Life has been wonderfully crazy and new. West Coast is next, or maybe The South? 8)

What I mean to say is HI! Enjoy Colorado! It's the best state out there.

Don't have a ton of experience riding with groups and would like to improve the skills, so I guess a club sorta makes sense; hope to meet you all on rides this summer.

I'm currently terrorizing the suburban hell of Highlands Ranch on the GSX so if someone around there wants to ride sometime drop me a line -- been spending most of my time solo up in the Golden Gate / Nederland area working on handling and trying to convince that #$@! cop hiding at the exit of Coal Creek Canyon to reduce the ensuing tickets (how the hell do you drive the speed limit at the exit of that anyways?)

So I see you took the plunge, Stark, welcome :hibye: Hoopty is the wheelie professor I told you about :D Just don't let him wheelie your bike for you, that's kinda 50-50 on the outcome (see his avatar)

Seriously, though, take Hoopty up on that offer, he's a really good rider and would definitely be able to give you some pointers

Hello. I am new member :loser: hahaha. (j/k).
Well, someone by the name of Turtle asked me what type of bike I ride, and I ain't gonna try to pose: I don't have one of my own. I joined to do some research and get close to some people who have some experience in the field of "crotch-rockets" so that some day I might actually get the courage up to go and get one of my own. I am usually the ornament on the back of some lucky guy's bike. JUST KIDDING!!!
Well, anyway. I have heard and read that I am suposed to get some new member hazing. So, let the bashing begin!! :D

(Queue mental "A.A." meeting reel)

Hi, my name is Adam and I have been a "rider" for 22 years now. I started when I was 13 with my older brother and some friends. I have tried to quit a number of time when it interfered with my life and bank account, but I have never succeeded quitting for more than a year or two. I joined a support group (MRA) in 1992 but left 5 years ago when I realized that most of them needed more help than me. Now I am only a recreational user. Currently I am a "street" user, but I would like to try it in the woods too.

Bikes, in order of appearance: '72 Kaw enduro (125?), 1989 GS500E, 1983 GPZ 550, 1992 Seca II, 1988 Honda Hawk, 1999 Triumph ST, 1992/1995 FZR600 race bike, 2001 SV650S

theres nothing wrong with the bike maybe just you. The bike is ok and so are all bikes on this board at least thats what you guys always say. I ride a 250 ninja much smaller than you but the bike is very light agile and gets twice the mpg most these guys do.

Point being you own a bike have fun with it.
110 mph can kill you just has quick has 170 mph.
Why knock what you own its yours OWN it.

Im not really knocking my own bike, im just poking a little fun at myself. I think that the bike handles exceptionaly, the acceleration is extreamly well considering my size. My only point is that i am a big guy on a little bike not that the bike sucks.

It was a sort of "wow that's cool" and also "damn that's cheap" and "insurance for this will be CHEAP!". All told i don't think the bike has cost 1500 to get it to the condition its in. Its definetly a rocket, but not master of the canyons. The dirt bike was the same thing, original owner, not even 1000 miles, not even 800 dollars. My friends all think i'm nuts, but i'm the only one, paying tuition w/ 2 bikes and a car.

Hey all, just joined the other day. Some might see me up in the canyons or out near Deckers on my Blackbird(silver Shoei helmet). I don't ride in town much. My favorite rides are Golden Gate, Peak to Peak(stop for brew at the Sundance), Deckers, Squaw Pass, Estes. I also do some road trips with the camping gear. I like to do the Gunnison, Lake City, Durango loop and camp near Lake City. I've got almost 50,000 miles on the Bird. It's stock except for some Gen-Mar risers and a Zero Gravity windscreen. Hope to ride with ya someday.

What's up everyone? I've been poking around on this site for the last week and have to say that I'm pretty impressed. Seems like a pretty close group of guys and girls that like to have a good time. I also wanted to say that I'm really impressed with the way you guys have rallied around Phil.

Hopefully I can catch up with everyone on Monday night at Jillian's, it's pretty close to my house.

Hey... whats up. I'm new to the Denver area... I moved out here for a job from Northern Virginia. I have been riding sportbikes for 7 years, and am now on a '00 R6. Made it up into the mountains last weekend and am dying to get back up there. Awesome shit. The problem is is that I have no clue where the really good stuff is. Holla...

Bugkiller6,

Welcome! I'm new here too. There are a ton a great places to ride. One of my favorites thus far is Pine Valley Rd to Woodland Park.

Deer creek and Turkey creek are great too... provided they don't have gravel on them.

Had a great ride last saturday with possibly the most organized group of riders I have seen. Was one of the most fun rides ever.

I moved up from the springs this winter and just now stumbled across your group on the net.

My first street bike was a 92 Katana 600, then onto a 96 GSXR 750, and now I ride an 02 Bandit 1200, whick I like the most. Dirt bikes are cool too. I really like to do wheelies but only when the popo are not around.

I like to take alot of pictures so I will post some links from time to time. I posted some already on another thread. http://www.cosportbikeclub.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=7281

Hey all, I am happy to now be a part of CSC, and look forward to getting to know all of ya. I will be riding up to the wash tmr, to do just that.

A bit about myself, I just left the Army after 6 years in, and am a nurse in denver. My wife and I live in Ken Caryl Ranch with my son Kaegen who is 19 months. I have been riding for about 25 years of my life, started with a sweet 70's era honda 50 and moving on up. I now ride a very stock 03 Busa which I plan to do very little to, maybe just get rid of the rear fender.

I prob pissed some peeps off with my 2nd post, but they will get over it. As I said in that post, pls dont hold my boldness against me.

You might be surprised how many riders around your comfort level you will find on the Sunday ride, There is always some people that will stay with you and you will probably shorten the learning curve by riding with other people and picking up tips and hints, everyone is willing to share their experiance, plus it is safer than riding alone :D

so...R1100S (jeff for short..are you?!) out of curiosity, when I've borrowed by buddies R11S The bags seem to drag really easy and the center stand is long gone. Considering the comments I've seen on your riding style, do run into these issues? He has OHLINS all around and a GS paralever, so the wheel base is shorter, and it's a taller ride with a little more lean into corners. Any comments or thoughts?

i've got just shy of 19k on the bike now. sitll have the stock suspenders on it. the front and back are as hard as they'll go. center stand is still on the bike.

i did try to run with the sportrider magazine settings (http://www.sportrider.com/bikes/146_susp_settings/#bmw) for a couple hours but hit the right side center stand. i was running the hardest front/rear prior to that and immediately went back to it. since then i've not hit anything on the ground. when the current suspension is worn out i wont put OEM's back on the bike. i'm going to start shopping this fall and will have new stuff by spring.

as for the Ohlins, i'm thinking at this point they are kinda over kill on this bike. they can handle a lot more than my bike can give it so i'm starting to think it'd be a waste to spend the money. maybe works suspension. they're about 1/2 the $$$ and completely adjustable and rebuildable.

as far as dragging things, it's mostly a riding style issue. on BMW's you really need to start on the gas hard in corners. pretty much i get on the gas as soon as i'm done braking and start accelerating from there. it's a bad technique on a japanese bike with 100lbs less bulk and 30% more power but it works beautifully on the BMWs (pretty much all of the shaft drive ones).

give it a lot of gas and the back end will jack way up and stay stable is all it comes down to really.

it's a fun bike, but mainly i just like to hear people bitches about their asses hurtin after the rides  :P :D

the bike is still down :( Sip-a-brew is a cool little rally. not too many people and nice roads all around. not stuffy at all. paonia this weekend is pretty cool too.

Zuki 12/11
Thu Jul 8th, 2004, 06:33 PM
Yeah, Im missing Paonia this year. Have a private security job to do Sunday and it pays very well.
BMW riders sure have a habit of blind faith in the Para/Telever suspension system! At least the guys I ride with admit it and realise that they would get spit off HARD from a conventional suspended bike with the riding style beemers lead you into. It looks like fun to power wheelie the r11s tho'. Its a heavy bike but rides well.

I think you'd be suprised how nice Ohlins feel. Or Bitubo...another rider who grags his GS1150 needed those to keep his oilhead off the ground in turns.
OK, thats enough for me. And on the "other" board look for Bandit12... :)

Hi, mountain eagle here........ refered to and by zuki so to speak. I've a bit of a bike whore problem, but I'm working on it. I think I'm down to 7 and one, no two of them actually run (at the moment).

Jeff: Not sure if we met at paiona, but I'm the one who flipped the pretty white R11S in the black canyon.............. amazingly enough it's straight and I was able to ride the 50 or so miles to get to the rally. Happily it should be back together in time for Sipipu. I should be healed by then too.

Umm, you don't have any r11s spares laying about perchance?............

since the jackass ran into my front end last month and his insurance company has done jack so far, i missed paonia :( . my dad was there, though, on an 04 R1150RS (in blue), but there were probably a lot of those. i'll be at sipapau though no problem. :)

as for spares, unfortunately the bike's still too new (to me) to have any of that. given time i will i'm sure but nothing at the moment :(

Another noob to add to the list. I've only been riding (on road) for about three years now. Current bike is an 04 Triumph Thruxton 900. I live in Wheat Ridge...lok forward to meeting everyone and checkin out the group rides. Doubt the Thruxton can keep up with most of you though

Hi, just checking it. I live in Evergreen and have talked to a few people on this site that I have seen at stops I have made. Most of the time I just ride in the mountains. Been riding on the street sence 1965, but like all types of bikes.

Hey Fast... I'm a "former" Triumph nut (still miss my '99 955i) and would really like to check out the Thruxton. I think that would be the bike that results in another Triumph in my garage. Nice.

I had 2 Daytonas and a Speed Four (want another S4)...

Another newbie to add to your ranks. I bought my first bike, a 2001 R6, in late April. I've been riding as much as I possibly can since then.

I've been reading thru all the threads on here for the last few days, so I figured it's time to throw up my first post. I live on the North end of Colo Springs and I'm looking forward to meeting up with some other members in the near future.

Here's a pic of my new baby....
