Have just used some air miles to book a flight to London and have laid down a 10% deposit to hire a VFR800 for a week. Will be meeting a buddy at the rental station and hotfooting it over to France and down to the Swiss Alps for week of hard riding and hard drinking. Did the Alps a couple of years ago and the Pyrenees last year. I'm very excited!!

I've been debating a very similar trip, but I was thinking Portugal to Budepest (or Prague, depending on the time) and back. Going east taking the southern route and going back west taking the northern route.

Damn things that cost money!

If you ever end up in Wales, try these guys for bike or classic car hire.

Low rates, friendly people, and great roads. I used them last summer when I toured Wales. I was the 1st to hire that R6. I broke it in for ya!

What's that put you back?

Plane fare = $90 (used air miles so just had to pay taxes)
Bike rental = $900 (ish) inc insurance and to be able to take the bike out of the country.
Boat to France and back to England = $80
Fuel and accom during trip = $$$$$$
Beer money = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Feeling a well travelled smug bastard on a boys only holiday = priceless!!

PS - if my wife asks, the trip cost $3.47.
