That was in BSB 2000 where Chris Walker on the Clarion Suzuki was going head to head with Neil Hodgson on the GSE Ducati.
It was a very frustrating year for Chris, and it was getting a bit heated up between these two when this incident happened. When they touched, both riders went off course and bailed, but I think Neil quickly got back on course where Chris took a long time. Hard to say who was at fault. Both riders were going for the same line. I have to say it was Neil being a bit aggressive on this one though. Chris got his revenge back when he got into another bang session with Neil where only Neil fell off. On top of the fall, Neil was given a penalty for aggressive racing.
Unfortunately, Neil got the final revenge by winning the BSB championship that year. Mind you, it was by luck, since Chris Walker was leading the final race and he retired due to a mechanical. I know luck is part of the game, but Chris Walker was 2nd place in the BSB championship for 3 years in a row... Poor guy.
Anyways, great year of racing in JSBK, BSB, and WSBK. I think the Superbike era started to deteriorate after year 2000 though. Although watching Bayliss and Edwards go at it in 2001 and 2002 were fun, it was officially the battle of the twins and 4 cyl no longer were seen up front...
Hopefully the MSMA will start coming back in 2006. Otherwise, this series will slowly disappear...
