First of all, those are all funny as hell, especially the "Find X"
but this one
is all jacked up for real.
First of all, part B asks "Does it continue to move after it comes to rest?" Whoever wrote that needs an english lesson, this is like asking "was the car still green after it was painted red?"
Second - I understand what they are asking, they are asking will the weight compress the spring and stop, or will it compress the spring and rebound back up the ramp? Well, if the surface is truly frictionless (impossible, but it makes the solution simpler) then it will most certainly compress the spring and then rebound. The problem is that as part of the question they state that it will "compress the spring distance X and then come to rest", which answers part B for you (although it is contrary to the laws of physics).
I know, I know, this is supposed to be funny and I'm taking things way too literally, but it's also a perfect example of how screwed up some of our teachers are because whoever wrote that question should be fired.
