Sunday- IMI and Moto GP ?Party?

OK, first things first, I'm not much of a "throw a party" kind of guy, so this is a bit of a unique opportunity

    Sunday:

Meet up at the IMI kart track for some laps at around 10 AM. Play for a while and then come to my house for the season opener of the Moto GP and 250 races starting at 3:00. I'm sure there will be some bench racing going on as well.

I'll get some pizza and beverages, all you have to do is show up and watch the race on the 56" TV. I'm about 20 miles from the track to the north in a town called Milliken. I've got a big garage, so you can park your bike inside if you want. Heck you can even skip the IMI part if you want to.

Please sign up if you think you'll come so I can be sure to have enough supplies. I don't care if I've never met you before or if I've known you for years just sign up and hang out. It will be a good time.

    Hey Pilot,

Yeah I saw that, but it's the wrong direction for me.

My gig is cancelled. Hope you guys have a good time!

I'm heading out for IMI in the next few minutes, it's still a bit wet up here, so be careful if you're riding there.

Sorry to have missed those of you who took off early. A couple of friends and I came down to IMI around 3'ish to watch and go round the track for a bit. Still got to meet a coupla ppl whom I'd not met before...glad to have met ya. Nope, I didn't go round this time, but maybe next month during Spring Break.

Hwy 36 was fun and since I'm such a wuss, we didn't try any of the other roads up in the mountains. Saw scads and scads of Harleys and sport bikes as we were coming down outa da mountains.

A very fun day indeed. Not bad topping it off with a stop at IMI.

Hey Jen...so, how's your new bikey? Gotta get up some of those pics.

Yeah, it was fun/safe. Not like I wanna do any repeat dumping this year ya know. It wan't a boring ride, though, either. Just enough to scatter the cobwebs.

Anyway, so like I keep saying, I might just be out at IMI a bit this year, just not every weekend. So, if I show up when you're there, are ya gonna give me some pointers.

Great seeing everybody out there again today. Here are a couple of pics:

I'm pretty tired. I'll post some more tomorrow.

The laws of necessity, of self- preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property, and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

Turned out to be a great track day. No one crashed. Can't wait untill they repave and set up the dirt section.

** REPOST IN THE CORRECT THREAD **

Wow, another incredibly fun day at IMI. I can't believe *some* people would rather sit in a bar and watch day old MotoGP than play on such a beautiful day

Photos from my little camera thanks to Cathy and Jen (?). Unfortunately my lack of zoom made it so I had to crop the heck out of em to even see the rider, so we probably won't get any printable shots out of here.

When Jen (and dirkterrell?) post their photos, hopefully we can get some more "printable" photos, but maybe you can use these for sig-pics or avatars or something

Nice slide show Tommy. Thanks for posting.

Dernit...even with the far-away angle of those pics, those lean angles make me wanna waste a wad on some nice riding pants...gah!

Umm, I wouldn't say no one crashed. There was a long bike track out into the farmer's field on that back hairpin and bits of yellow turn signal plastic on the track and that same bike was down at the same corner but in the other direction with distinct metallic skip marks on the pavement (frame slider?).

Note rash marks, no frame slider, and missing right turn signal.

Just behind the seat, the fairing is broken.

The mirror is broken and the slider has gouged up some mud.

I'm glad it was okay enough to be ridden home and of course that the rider's fine. Sucks to go down though of course

Re: Sunday- IMI and Moto GP

I was so beat that I decided to watch the races from home than come all the way down to 470. I have pics up though. As you can see from some, I was getting the hang of the delay on the camera so I have half bikes and even some empty track

    http://www.schelin.org/20070311/day01/albuma.html

    Here are a few samples:

I have almost 20 gigs of raw track footage. It'll take a day or two to get it all snipped and compressed.

I had fun again and really was pushing to get my butt totally off the seat when the track direction went the other way. The first time I thought I was going to drop the bike (and that one bump!). The big problem is that my right foot especially was just barely staying on the peg when I slid over. I need to get longer legs I guess (or put the stock pegs back on when I'm taking it to the track).

Good to meet everyone and thanks again to Scott for the advice.

    Carl

Edit: Just to post in the "main" thread.
