I have not done this ride but plan to do it at least once in 2012. It is a great early season prospect from the standpoint of weather consistancy. I would like to gauge interest in an early season run, March/April. My thought for march would be to trailer to Gallup NM because of 1. sand on 285 2. Chilly morning and evening Temps. 3. The temps are not in the 100s yet. I would like to arrange a group of 3-4 experianced "Canyon Carvers" (with brain atached). A larger group would really add some fun to. My trailer is 20' and is set for 4 bikes easy and gear. I go 350 miles on a tank of Deisel. It is 500 miles to Gallup. There are Decent places to stay in Gallup to base out of. It is 170 miles of deserted road to Alpine NM where the Coronado trails begins. This road is like a thousand turns in 200 miles (have specifics, post em) so it is a bad ass road. I have heard the quality of the scenery and pavement is excellent. A long weekend should suffice. By May Riding the whole thing would be in order. This is doable for under $500 a person. Here is the route. http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msid=...48d22f94&msa=0
