    Radar Detectors in the canyons?

With all the cop talk, I was curious if anyones tried hooking up a radar detector? Or is it even possible? Granted it'd be hard to pay attention on the turns, but on the straitaways I often check my rpms.

Roadtrips we usually have a pace car with a radar detector, but trying to find a fix for the canyons.

I run radar, and typically can get a two turn lead between me picking up a signal and the cop itself. So you have to shut down the instant you get a hit.

I have a mic plug on my radar, so it plugs into the speakers I have installed in my helmet.

As a primary line of defense, we now run with a group of riders that have the radio units, and we run a bike upfront typically doing the speed limit. They just radio back if they see a cop, and we have a good mile or two notice...

Yah thats probably the best/safest way to do it Munch. Guess you could rotate the scout. I like the speaker idea. Do you have any links on it and how much did it roughly run you.

Also may be a silly question, but do the radar detectors run on batteries as well or do they have to be hooked up to your electronic harness?

I use an Escort Solo, with an earphone. Runs on batteries or you can hardwire it. Lots of options at motorcycleradar.com .
