Agreed about the city and state. don't know anything about the track. Don't you think they would have some in-field improvements to accommodate the bikes?

Yeah --- but the spectator areas are really f*c#ed up. All you see is what's directly in front of you. Take the race to Barbour or Road Atlanta. Much better venues for MC racing.

I heard they turned down Barbar as a possibility for GP already but Barber is going to get a WSBK race there for 2008. Indy is a great idea so less people go to Laguna and make my stay that much better.....

Re: So, MotoGP at Indy on 2008. What are the odds?

I think the odds are pretty good - Tony George likes motorcycles and seems willing to spend godawful amounts of money to make his track safe for them.

DORNA wants another US MotoGP round, but they are only going to work with a promoter that has the cash to advertise the race and bring in a huge crowd. That pretty much means Tony George or ISC, who were hot after a MotoGP round at Homestead (you guys think Indy would be bad for bikes...).

Road Atlanta would have to be completely rebuilt. The last turn is by far the most dangerous turn the AMA races at now, there are concrete walls everywhere, no facilities, no garages, a tiny paddock. The track layout is great for racing, but it has way too many problems to host a MotoGP.

Barber is a wonderful facility, but the track doesn't have any straightaways. There is really nowhere those bikes could really wind up. I think that (and the politics with the city) is what kept MotoGP out of Birmingham.

According to Wind Tunnel its a done deal for Indy in 08. The track was inspected and passed the GP standards, now its just a matter of a written contract.
