    Red face gas tank cleaning,

ok ive been into my four carbs numerous times, i did a search and saw TK? is that a product or local shop?
does anyone have a good way to clean a gas tank...? apparently bad gas and a tank thats dirty are the reasons i have to rebuid my carbs repeatedly? the tank was sitting for two to three years... i recently sprayed the heck out of it with carb cleaner, it didnt do the trick. just temporarily fixed the issue. does anyone do gas tank cleaning? for the fellow on a budget? im getting tired of rebuilding the carbs twice a week..... thanks guys/gals.

    Re: gas tank cleaning,

A budget is definately not a friendly thing to have when you want someone to clean the tank for you. Its best left to a weekend project if possible since you are practically taking the tank apart, plugging all the fuel lines, taking all the parts off the tank and draining it. Then cleaning it out multiple times with different solutions and then putting it all back together. Shop labor is really where the spendy part is since the actual cleaning solvents arent too badly priced.

    Time is money!

Here is a nice little walkthrough if you wanna know what you are getting into.

Also, definately look into replacing the hoses when you do this as there will be sludge buildup in there as well.

The turbo for your car, does the wheel just have play in it? or did your seize it up.

    Re: gas tank cleaning,

Cheap tank cleaning: Wash the inside with Dawn and hot! water, then fill to the top with white vinegar(Sam's club or Costco, about $2 a gallon) and allow to sit for at least 3 days. Empty out the vinegar and rinse repeatedly with clean water until it runs out clean. Rinse with MEK or Acetone to help remove any residual water (do NOT get this stuff on the paint!). Allow to dry thoroughly before reinstalling.
    Thanks, Jim
