TONIGHT AT THE ORPHEUM~~The Deadly Mantis (1957)
Good evening.
And welcome to all of you who sit before the small screen. This night's recommended movie is brought to you by ,
"Let the good times roll."
This "Atomic Era" film brings together several of the social and ecological implications of the 50's, which interestingly enough are quite similar to today's cast of scientific characters. The beginning gives a cool overview of how the RADAR system was deployed to protect the USA from the Red Menace. Then it's off to the good stuff of what really bugs us about this movie~~ A giant green bug eating people. Excellently filmed in black and white. The Orpheum gives it thees.
So, we invite you to grab some popcorn, turn down the lights, press the mouse pad and watch, The Deadly Mantis, with us.
