    WHAT BIKE TO GET??????

I am looking for a bike to do it ALL & I need some suggestions. I am currently looking @ the KAW KLR 650 & the Susuki DRE 650 SE.

I like the Kaw's fuel capacity @ 6.1gal and the cargo capacities. I like the Susuki's nimbleness for more adventure terrain handling.

I want it to be street legal to get from one trail to the other &

Any other suggestions out there. I like down here in AZ & there are just way too many trails out here compared to streets for the R1. I need something to keep my sanity.

Now I'm look'n @ this Yamaha 2004 WR450... I'm lik'n the fact that it can be made for the street to get from 1 trail to the next, yet light enuff to have some fun.

depends on the kind of trails and the amount of roads you will ride.
two completly different classes of bikes.

I think a Honduh 650R (tagged) would be the best compromise.

Besides the Yamaha, I've been looking @ these also...

SUZUKI DRZ400E Don't think It'll have enough top end speed on the hwy though as it's 'bout 60mph
    http://adcache.cycletrader.com/5/9/9/89605899.htm

Suzuki DR650SEX It's a bit on the older side & I don't think it'll be good for tighter, sandier trails.

I think I'll just move to Colorado City where I can have everything that I want...

Those make good Tards, where are you getting the 60mph figure?
Gearing can make a huge difference.

if i wasn't a god fearing christian i'd have a whole lot to say about that in relation to other things

but, see this is exactly why he needs to sell it and get a brand new bike, to love and cherish and keep all to himself.

I would prefer to purchase a bike from people on the board/know.

It's just to much of a biatch to come up there.

The weight of the 650s will hamper you on the dirt, I would not take one up to say Captain Jacks. I would get the KTM or Yamaha. They are lighter and better suited for the dirt. If you are going to ride street mostly then the 650's are ok.

The DRE 9s 324 dry weight,
    The Yamaha 232 dry weight

You will feel it on the trail and every time you drop that bike.

Dude you know they are a great bike, but not for Motocross IMHO. And there are some reliability issues and it costs more intitially and for parts but people here buy sportbikes like Ducs that are similar, does not mean it is a good bike. For trail riding, some people wouldn't buy anything else.

They are light and they would rock the 650's. They do have some advantages over the big 4. It is just what you like.
