    2nd Annual Emily's Parade 9/29/07

Wanted to pass this email I received on to the CSC membership in case any of you would like to participate.
This ride is to honor the memory of Emily Keyes and the other student who were victims in the 2008 Platte Canyon High School Shootings.
    ================================================== ===============

    Hello Jeff!
First we all want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your spontaneous participation in last year's event The 1st Annual Emily's Parade which was held on October 7, 2006.
The best guess we had was over 5,000 riders participating. Just under 2,600 registrations were submitted.

The 1st Annual Emily's Parade raised over $70,000, which was transferred to the Colorado Organization for Victim Assistance (COVA) to be privately administered for the benefit of the six girls who survived last September's Platte Canyon School shooting.

Another $20,000 from t-shirt revenues, was donated to the I Love U Guys Foundation from Columbine High School.
From these proceeds the Foundation has donated to scholarship funds and donated to other community oriented programs.

This year's Parade will be similar to last year's. It will begin at Columbine HS and end at Platte Canyon HS.
Food and beverages will be served at both ends and there will be live entertainment at Platte Canyon.

This year's proceeds will be used to support the mission of the I Love U Guys Foundation: "To restore and protect the joy of youth" through programs that promote and encourage our three Points of Focus:
    Kindness, Community, Responsibility. (http://www.iloveyouguys.org/focus.html)

    The three programs are:
    Colorado Uplift-"Empowering Urban Youth" (http://www.coloradouplift.org)
Step 13-"real change, not spare change" (http://www.step13.org)
    Bridges to Peace (http://www.bridges2peace.com).

We encourage you, your friendsand family to participate in this year's event on Saturday, September 29, 2007.
Bike registration begins at 8:00 AM at Columbine High School.
We will leave at 11:00 AM and ride to Platte Canyon High School for a picnic lunch and some great live music from Ethyl and the Regulars. (http://ethylandtheregulars.com)

We encourage you to pre-register online at http://www.iloveuguys.org/emilysparade.

Again, thank you Jeff so much for your outpouring of support and heartfelt emotion you displayed after last year's tragic events where Emily Keyes was held hostage and murdered in her college prep English classroom at Platte Canyon HS. We cannot change what has happened, but Through Kindness, We Change the World.

We hope you and your friends and family choose to join us in making our community a better place...

    Very Sincerely,
    Casey, Ellen and John-Michael Keyes

You've got a bike, one way or the other.

From more than one source if necessary.

The laws of necessity, of self- preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property, and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

If there is a crowd from the southern portion of the CSC that is attending this ride, I would like to go along.

Free bump because the ride is only a week away.
