    Requiem for a biker

Video is a bit long, but well worth watching. Once you get past the intro, it's hard to look away. Translations for the text at the end are to the right of the video.

This one hits home for some of us.

I can't take credit for finding it, a buddy on my "other" forum posted it there, but it's well worth sharing. Very sobering.

Indeed a good demonstration of action and reaction.

Notice that with many of those incidences the rider was at fault...

but when a car runs a red light and mows down a bike...

    Re: Requiem for a biker

It's a bit tough watching a video like that nowadays having been witness to the death of my mother and father in-law in a motorcycle accident. It really made me think about how fast do I really need to take this corner. It's not worth "ripping" up the canyons anymore. I just ride to have fun and not to push my bike or myself to the limit.

It's sad that plenty of us will not slow down until something tragic happens. I hope a video like that would make a difference to our attitudes on the road.

Powerful and moving video. It does make one question (if only for a moment) why we put ourselves at risk. This video would be a good video for new riders.

Seems to be a lot of negitivity of late regarding the damgers of motorcycle riding. The way I look at it, we're humans, we like to hurl our bodies around at speed (motor racing, skate boarding, skiing, gymnastics, sky diving, and on and on and on. We make our choices in life, do our best, and live with it.

It's that or die of old age with a catheter in places God didn't intend.

I've lost friends, I've had friends mangled, I've had my own share of injuries.
I ride smarter now but I won't quit riding.

With my luck, I'd quit riding just to slip and die in the shower, so who cares?

Death is the end of everyone's road, some roads are just more fun along the way--even if they're shorter.
Faster, faster, faster, until the thrill of speed overcomes the fear of death.

I'm only 23 but I have had enough wrecks my body feels like its older. I don't know if its just old age, or I would suspect its vast treasures of experiences, and looking back and seeing just how lucky you have been.
