my bike isn't doing so hot right now. i let my girlfriends dad ride it around the block and it came back messed up. He claims he turned the turn signal switch and all the electrical died and the bike dies in 2nd gear or higher. i don't have turn signals on my bike. so im taking it in to find out whats up. it blows my mind. and i've already checked the fueses

I wish you luck.. Because it sounds like an electrical problem.. and they suck…
I would suggest fist looking at all the pivot areas were you see wires, for example around the triple clamp.. it might just be some frayed wires..
