Never sell the bike you learned to ride on. You WILL regret it. And when you want to buy it back 10 years later, it will cost you a fortune.
First rule of the internet: *bleep* you and everything you stand for. Second rule of the internet: FKZOR U AND RRYTHING U STND FR!
Amen to that. It would be so cool to have my mid sixty's Honda 305 parked in my garage today. And not a replacement but the original.
That could be something every father could do for their son. Hang on to that first bike since often their responsible for the purchase and sell of that one.

"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self- preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property, and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."
--Thomas Jefferson
Still have my first street bike, well somewhat.
Combined two to restore the one.

Be assured that a walk through the ocean of most souls would scarcely get your feet wet.
How about:
"Four wheels move the body, but two wheels move the soul."
and
"Everything looks better from the inside of a motorcycle helmet."

"Well my friends, take my advise....Pull down your pants and slide on the ice." It has something to do with motorcycles, I havent figured out what yet.

Crashing sucks... don't do it.

Don't ever confuse having a career with having a life.
Ouch!
I got one: NEVER Armor All your tires! No matter how careful you are, some still gets on the tread. I don't know this from first-hand experiance, but in the early '80's I did crash in the street right in front of the M/C shop that had just put a new rear tire on for me......because they slopped tire-bead soap all over the tire and didn't clean it! Shoulda sued them. Anyways, from now on, I use a rag and isopropyl alcohol, and some sand paper to clean and scuff the tires before I roll. New bikes included. Funny thing was, the shop parts guy (a friend) saw it, came out with his clipboard laughing (you'll need a left turnsignal, engine cover......). But the same exact thing happened to him a few months later when he took out a brand new Spectre 1100 they'd just uncrated for a test ride and it spit him off and he did well over $1k in damage to it before they could even put it on the floor. Now it was MY turn to laugh!

"...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag. We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."
