Oh dayum!!!
How's that?
Ok, so here's my idea. First, just wanna interject, but I was considering going up to the NorthWest sometime (not sure if '08, but...). I have a half-aunt I've never met that lives in Oregon along the coastal mountains on a horse ranch. Her daughter and her brother (my half-uncle) also ride.
I was talking with a couple at the Haus on Thursday after the presentation and they mentioned they'd like to join me. They started talking about the Washington area, because it's their old stomping ground. They mentioned a couple of roads along the way up to the Northwest, but I can't remember them now...so, I'll post that info later.
If you're gonna do Canada, think about Alberta and BC. I was there in the summer of '73 (yeah, I was 9), but I remember lots of the scenery and how the roads were twisty. I love that area. Think about Banff and Jasper. Also, consider maybe Glacier Ntl Park.
There's so much you could do. Oh, and for relaxation after a long day's ride, there are lots of hot springs all along the border areas.
Hmmm...you just gave me a good idea for some dreaming this holiday break. Gonna break out the road Atlas and do some dreamin'...yeah, I'm a nut that way.
...ready to take on the world...one canyon at a time...

Clicky the linky...Icefields Parkway...absofriggenlutely be-a-u-ti-ful. Oh and yes, I was on the Columbia Glacier on a snow cat tour. Lots of crevasses, so don't walk on the glaciers, do a tour if you want to see them up close.

So, would you hop a ferry from Port Hardy to Prince Rupert and then take Hwy 16 back into British Columbia? Or, would you go back down to Vancouver the same way you went up to Prince Rupert?
When I was in Alberta in '73, my Dad drove us all the way across BC to Bella Coola. 200 miles of dirt road from Williams Lake out to the coast. Sometimes that road was so narrow, only one vehicle could pass. There was one part in particular that I remember when we came up on a truck with camper and the road had narrowed to one lane with a sheer drop-off on one side. We had to back up to a wider spot to allow the guy through.
