2011 Porsche Cayenne Spied in the Mountains

The new Porsche Panamera has inspired the interior of the upcoming 2011 Cayenne. These new spy pictures of the Porsche SUV driving up some mountains do not show a great deal of interior as previously spied, apart from the sporty Recaro race seats, but a previous spy video gave us a good look at the vehicle in action. This time our spies were not able to get close enough to the car to take more interior shots even though the doors were open.

The exterior was more camera-friendly in this instance. The shape of the rear lights for instance, shows more detail. Porsche seems to have stuck to its evolution styling philosophy and has kept the Cayenne largely as it currently is. But the look is now sleeker and appears more aerodynamic.
Engines for the 2011 Cayenne are not yet known. However, the Panamera provides some clues as to powerplants that could be shared between the two vehicles. One such motor is the 4.8-litre V8 that makes 400hp (294kW). Another is the Volkswagen Group's V6 TDI (good for emissions ratings) with 550Nm of torque. Porsche is also going into hybrids, so both Panamera and Cayenne II are primed for that powertrain. Power will be sourced from the 3.0-litre supercharged Audi engine while the electric motor will be run by a 38kW battery.

    Re: Spy Photos

A picture has surfaced on the internet of a Japanese magazine with a concept picture of the 2011 Honda Civic. Although at this point it may just be a rumor, you can be the judge. For starters, I'm not sure sporty is the first word I think of when I see this tall squished Civic. The tuner boys and girls may feel differently.
At any rate, looks like Honda has plans to completely redesign the Civic. Whether or not the all new model will be a 2010 or 2011 Civic has yet to be officially announced.

    Spy Shots—BMW Unleashes the Porsche-Whipping M7

Brenda Priddy and her network of spy shooters caught what she says is the next BMW M7, equipped with an M-style bumper that includes large air intake openings underneath the lamp units. Also up front, Priddy says BMW will fit the new M with an aluminum hood for weight savings and improved handling.
Under that hood, Priddy says to expect the dual-turbo V8 used in the current X6 or perhaps 5.0L V10 from the M5 and M6. Either motor should be good for 550-600 hp, a marked upgrade from the 407 hp currently offered in the 750i, as well as the 507-hp unit powering the Alpina B7. It should also put down more power than the Porsche Panamera.

2011 Volvo C70 Facelift Scooped Unmasked During Photo Shoot

A pair of completely undisguised 2011MY (or 2010MY) Volvo C70 facelift models were captured on film during a photo shoot somewhere in Barcelona, Spain, by an eagle-eyed member of the Swedespeed forums. Looking at the camera phone photos it is clear that the redesign of the C70 coupe-convertible was stylistically influenced by the S60 Concept sports sedan that was revealed at this year's Detroit Auto Show.

Up front, the revamped C70 features a completely new fascia with more organic details and softer shapes. Changes include the new swoopy headlamps, the wider and more pronounced grille as well as the newly styled bumper. The new tail lamps, the larger Volvo name on the boot lid and the revised bumper at the back, round up the exterior styling changes - or at least that's what we gather by looking at the shots.

It's also possible that Volvo may have refreshed the hardtop convertible's interior and upgraded the chassis and/or the engine range, but we won't know for sure until the Swedish automaker reveals something official. We imagine that we'll see the 2011 C70 making its world premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. Until then, tell us you're initial thoughts on the C70's redesign in the comment section below.

2010 Suzuki Kizashi caught in Colorado

Spy shots of the upcoming Suzuki Kizashi are becoming rather common as the mid-size sedan gets ready to launch later this year, but what we've yet to see – what we've needed to see – is a shot of what's inside. Thanks to Autoblog reader Curtis Lewis, we finally have our first glimpse of the Kizashi's interior, and we've got to say, it's looking good.

The exterior hasn't changed much since the last batch of spy shots, and although it isn't nearly as swoopy and aggressive as the Kizashi 3 concept that we saw at the New York Auto Show, we're still encouraged by the sculpted haunches, angular trunk, stretched taillights and integrated exhaust tips. Too bad the front fascia looks like a Neon when coated in camo. Expect the Kizashi to debut in production form this December with a choice of a 2.5-liter inline four driving the front wheels or 3.6-liter V6 sending approximately 300 hp through all four.

While the design is hardly revolutionary, the materials appear to take a solid step above and beyond Suzuki's current offerings, with some tasteful wood and aluminum trim. The center stack is rather straightforward, but everything appears more fluid and refined compared to what we've seen in the past. The steering wheel is reasonably sized (not to big and not to small), complete with redundant controls for the stereo and possibly Bluetooth integration, and the seats have a fair amount of bolstering to compliment the leather surfaces.

    Volkswagen Touareg: June 2009

Lighter yet longer : These are the very first photos of a Touareg prototype testing in Europe. The biggest news we hear is that the 2011 Touareg will be some 300kgs lighter. The chassis has been lengthened by a few centimetres to give a roomier interior and an optional third row of seats, though we expect that third row will probably amount to jump-seats that fold flat.

Charge of the light brigade : It will share a chassis with the next-generation Audi Q7 and Porsche Cayenne. Powertrains should include updated versions of the 3.6-litre V6 and 4.2-litre V8 petrol motors along with one or two turbo diesel offerings. VW has also hinted it plans to make a hybrid Touareg that'll use a 3.0-litre supercharged V6 along with an electric motor. The supercharged V6 is the same engine found in Audi's new S4 and A6.

    Recognize this beauty? It’s a Fiat X-1-9.
I drove a new one back in the 70’s… for about six blocks…. just enough to get turned around and back on the lot.

2010 Ferrari F450 Mule Spy Shots Reveal Revised Rear Diffuser, Centre Exhaust Outlet?

A FERRARI F430 SCUDERIA-BASED test mule for the Ferrari F450, Ferrari’s upcoming successor to the F430 supercar, has been spied out-and-about in testing, with these new spy shots revealing a revised rear diffuser and exhaust, modified from the Scuderia version.

There have been no images yet of the production-ready F450, but these shots offer the clearest indication yet of what we’re likely to see from the new supercar’s rear end.

While at first glance the rear of this mule appears almost identical to that of the F430 Scuderia, the modified centre section of the diffuser would seem to indicate a new centralised exhaust outlet – not unlike the Lamborghini Murcielago, the Bugatti Veyron, and the upcoming Lexus LF-A.
If this is the case, the twin exhausts above the diffuser might prove to be disconnected fakes; a decoy.

The 2010 Ferrari F450 is powered by a 4.5 litre V8, with an expected output of over 375kW delivered through a high-performance variant of the seven-speed gearbox used in the Ferrari California convertible.
Beyond performance, the F450 is also expected to be Ferrari’s first production model to utilise eco-friendly materials, with weight-saving and a greener image the driving forces behind this new move.

Spy Shots–Honda Blurs the Lines with new Crosstour CUV

While vacationing in the Tennessee mountains, Michael Balisky happened upon these two Honda CUV prototypes, looking production-ready. Spy shooter Brenda Priddy says she has seen shots of the CUV in various disguises, but never this revealing.

Priddy says the CUV, called the Crosstour, is based on a modified Accord chassis, will offer Honda's new VTM-4 all-wheel-drive option, and will start production in September at Honda's East Liberty, Ohio factory. The Crosstour will slot in between the CR-V and Pilot, and looks to answer Toyota's new Venza CUV.
Powertrains are still an unknown, but the 2.3L, four-cylinder turbo from the Acura RDX is one likely choice.

    2011 Toyota 4Runner
    06/12/2009, By Drew Johnson
    Left Lane News

Armed with only a cell phone to shoot with, one of our lucky spotters caught a quick glimpse of the 2011 Toyota 4Runner. The camouflage implies a major update is in the works, but nearly no details have been trickling out just yet.

While many details remain unknown at this point, the latest spy shot seems to indicate the next 4Runner will retain its body-on-frame construction. That won’t make the 2011 the greenest SUV on the block, but it will make the ‘ute a formidable off-road vehicle.
Powertrain-wise, the 2011 will likely keep a similar lineup to the current truck. Expect a base V6 with an optional V8.

Inside we expect to see a major revamp as interior design an quality is one of the biggest knocks against the current 4Runner.
Originally, the re-engineered and re-styled 4Runner was thought to have been for the 2010 model year, but not it looks like it will debut for the 2011 MY at the earliest. A Chicago or New York Auto Show debut is anticipated.

Aston Martin Rapide caught open in parking collection

Finally, we can now show you pictures of . completely uncovered Aston Martin Rapide, thanks to photographer Simon Gregg. Gregg submitted the photos to the good folks at CAR Online, who quickly posted the pics online.

Aston Martin Design Director Marek Reichman once said,.”We wanted to make the most beautiful four-door sports car in the world.” The British automaker seems to have come very close to achieving their goal.
Although the car is not expected to be introduced to the public until September’. Frankfurt Motor Show, these photos show . car that will be stiff competition with rival Porsche . The $89,000 to $132,600 Porsche Panamera luxury sports car was recently introduced to the public with ..3.6 liter six cylinder generating 300 hp,…400 horsepower 4.8 liter .8 engine, and ..500 hp turbocharged .8.

While pricing is unknown for the Rapide, it will come with ..6.0-liter .12 generating 470 horsepower and 600 Nm of torque paired with . responsive Touchtronic gearbox. Performance figures have not been released, but we expect the Rapide to post numbers that are in between the two Porsche Panamera .8 models. Those cars go 0-60 mph in either 4 seconds or 4.8 seconds, depending on which engine is chosen.

For photographer Simon Gregg, the looks of the car have completely exceeded expectations..”This new addition from Aston Martin is most certainly going beat the Porsche Panamera in the style stakes!” he told CAR Online..”It has the same aggresive look of the Vanquish from the rear and even offers the appearance of being . two-door car, rather than . four-door when viewed from certain angles.”

Unfortunately, Gregg was not able to get pictures of the interior. He did say that vehicle has four individual seats, thanks to the center console which splits the entire cabin down the middle..”The facia and interior door panels share the styling found in the current DBS and V8 range. Rear access is via . Vantage-style rear hatch, which will make loading up very easy,” he said.

Aston Martin CEO Dr. Ulrich Bez previously said,.”The Rapide will exist in . class all of its own,.. true Aston Martin with the high performance and dynamic excellence that defines the brand, and . luxurious sporting grand tourer without equal.”
    Looks like he wasn’t lying.

    Noble M600
These pictures show that Noble’s newest descendant is almost ready for production. After being spotted in the USA doing serious testwork in all weather conditions and against cars like a Porsche Carrera GT and Ferrari Enzo, it has now been spotted track-testing in the United Kingdom. Under the hood will be a twin turbocharged 4.0 liter V8 breathing out 650bhp.

That makes the M600 drive into the class of exotics like Lamborghini and Ferrari. We can’t wait to see it in live, maybe in Frankfurt, next September.

Audi RS5 testing at the Grossglockner

The release of the Audi RS5 is coming closer, this undisguised Audi RS5 was testing at the famous Grossglockner pass in Austria. Our friends Brady and David Dwyer snapped some photos and a short video of the Audi RS5 in action.

The Audi RS5 will be equipped with the well-known 4.2 V8, pushing out a little over 450 hp. And like the S5, also the RS5 is likely to see a topless version. In the video below you can hear the sound of the new Audi RS5 as it’s produced by the V8 driving up the mountain.

The Grossglockner, where the Audi RS5 was spotted, is one of Austria’s main tourist attractions. The 48km long alpine road that starts in Bruck and ends in Heiligenblut leads you through the heart of the Hohe Tauern National Park, to the highest mountain in Austria, the Grossglockner (3,798m) and its glacier, the Pasterze.
The Grossglockner Hochalpenstrasse as it’s called in German, features 36 bends, and an altitude ascent to 2,504 metres! If you’re ever in Austria make sure to visit it, it’s open from the beginning of may till the end of october.

Chevy Camaro Convertible caught outside Oshawa plant

Last we reported back in March, plans to produce a drop-top version of the Chevy Camaro were still in effect. GM just confirmed it will arrive as a 2011 model, the on again/off again project appears to be firmly in the on position now... and we have proof. Autoblog reader Brad M recently caught the Camaro Convertible getting a tan outside of the Oshawa, Ontario plant that assembls the fixed-roof Camaro. The red convertible was sporting front and rear fascias from the Camaro SS and, with its top retracted, sported a very clean rear deck with only the center stop lamp and satellite radio antenna sticking up. With the chance of a Dodge Challenger Convertible hovering around 0%, we're pleased to see Chevy still intends to take on the Ford Mustang Convertible in the topless wars. Now, back to waiting...

V10-powered Audi R8 Spyder takes to the ‘Ring

Audi currently sells two versions of its R8 supercar, the original 4.2L V8 model and the recently revealed 5.2L V10 version, but there are two more versions in the works, one of which will be unveiled at September’s Frankfurt Motor Show. The two new versions are the R8 Spyder convertible and high-performance RS variant.

As for the R8 Spyder, a spokesman for Audi previously confirmed that it has been delayed to allow time for sales of the V10 hard-top to eventually die down. The Audi rep also confirmed that the Spyder will feature a full convertible soft-top roof instead of a smaller targa set-up, which was the preferred choice of engineers back in Germany.

Other major changes for the car that are expected to make it to production will be additional air intakes located behind the seats, as well as a pair of safety roll-over bars. Sadly, the R8’s trademark aluminum side blades have been removed. The placement of the fuel filler cap will also be changed due to the missing rear pillars, while changes under the sheet metal will likely include extra chassis strengthening.

While the base model will likely stick with the hard-top’s 420hp (313kW) 4.2L V8 engine, there’s talk that Audi may shoehorn the 5.2L V10 into a mid-level model and reserve the 5.0L twin-turbo V10 from the RS6 for a high-performance RS-variant. The version spotted testing at the Nurburgring in these latest spy shots is thought to be the V10 model.
The differences between the RS-variant and the standard V8 and V10 model will extend beyond just horsepower outputs. The chassis has reportedly been modified to accommodate the extra power, gaining upgraded suspension, steering and braking systems. Its arrival isn't pegged until late 2010 or early 2011.

This year’s Frankfurt Motor Show will be very busy for Audi as the event is also expected to see the debut of the new A5 Sportback model

Lexus LF-A: Latest round of spyshots

Lexus has confirmed that their most anticipated product the LF-A supercar will make it into production soon, and it’s also likely that it appears at the next Tokyo Motor Show, but for the time being, it keeps coming back to Nurburgring for these endless tests. Come on Lexus, even Bugatti didn’t test this much when they made the Veyron! Just make the thing!

This black shape is familiar to you of course, we have featured this Lexus LF-A mule many times, but in this series of spy pictures there is a shot of the car’s interior too. It’s not that revealing, but since some of the elements in the LF-A’s design is derived from the concept model, the same might be the case here as well.

When Lexus LF-A finally comes out of the factory as a finished product, it’ll have a V10 engine developing over 500 hp. 500 is not that impressing even with today’s standards, so for the time they gonna launch, this amount power might be accessible in hot hatchbacks! Hurry up Lexi

2011 BMW 5 Series together with the 5 GT at Nurburgring

While the BMW 5 Series GT has been already unveiled and heavily discussed upon, the next generation 2010 BMW 5 Series is still “hiding” behind the fake plastic panels.

The two cars have been spotted side-by-side at the famous Nurburgring track and it is probably the first time we see the two 5 Series models in the same photo.

For quite some time, many people associated the 5 Series GT with the next generation 5er and as we stated many times, it was a misconception.
While they are both part of the same family, the design of the two cars will barely resemble each other, so many photoshop attempts were clearly misinterpreted.

At least from what we see in these shots, the front grille will have similar proportions, clearly larger than the one in current model. The new 5 Series has a lower ride height and it will most have a far more aggressive and dynamic stand.

We still believe that the renderings we’ve shown on here a while ago are close to the final production model and if that’s the case, we won’t mind at all.

2012 BMW 5 Series will grow a couple of inches, but the goal is to keep the car at the current weight levels by using extensive aluminum in the exterior panels. The control-arm front suspensions will replace the MacPherson Struts and many options from the 7 Series will be reused: Integral Steering Package, Adaptive damping, sideview and night vision cameras or the head-up display.

To follow BMW’s plan on keeping the production costs low, the platform will be imported from the smaller 7 Series, F01 and it will be implemented in other series as well.

The new 5 Series will feature a variety of engines, from the typical diesel and gasoline powerplants to a hybrid version.

The 2011 BMW 5 Series will be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show next Spring.

    Reverse-cylinder 2010 Yamaha YZ450F

Those who were wondering what more could there be changed at Yamaha motocross bikes in order to improve performance are most likely to receive their answer with a single look at this spy picture of the 2010 Yamaha YZ450F reverse-cylinder.

This Powerpoint rendering shows how the new construction method allows the bottom end of the engine to move forward in the chassis, improving weight distribution and enhancing handling. This way, the exhaust pipe has a straight path towards the silencer and doesn’t need to be taken in consideration when doing the math for the front wheel clearance and also the inlet tract can be simply redesigned to go straight from the fuel injector to the combustion chamber. It even makes us wonder why Yamaha didn’t consider this possibility for the YZ450F so far.

Yamaha is supposed to unveil the completely new dirt bike within the next months and we reckon that it will blow away the competition.

    2010 Hyundai Sonata (YF)

Hyundai Motor will officially unveil the long-awaited replacement for the Sonata, code-named "YF", in September of this year. The new Sonata is set to be a revolutionary redesign for the mid-size sedan, incorporating a more modern, sportier design that radically deviates from the current generation's more conventional style. It will also be equipped with the company's latest powertrain technology that will achieve class-leading performance at no compromise of efficiency.

The all new Sonata (YF) sets to shake the mid-size sedan segment with its polarizing new design. The sleek, rakish lines of the exterior evoke a four-door coupe alike the Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class and Volkswagen CC. Hyundai announced that the new Sonata will be the first car to incorporate the brand's new "Fluidic Sculpture" corporate design theme, thus finally calming the quarrel surrounding the company's lack of a genuine brand identity to this date. The automaker even stated its hopes to replicate the immense impact made by the first-generation Ford Taurus when it debuted in 1985 with its futuristic, timeless styling.

The “four-door coupe” trend is certainly catching on, and the 2010 Acura ZDX is following suit. Although these spy shots feature the car kind of dirty, due to the dirt road it was being tested on, this looks like it will turn out to be a very clean car, bordering on the luxury category.

    GM's Next Duramax Diesel Engine

Diesel may be in the dumps when it comes to light-duty pickup trucks, but things are starting to get hot in the heavy-duty segment. New federal emissions rules set to take effect in 2010 have sent Ford and General Motors back to the drawing board to clean up their oil burning engines. (The current Dodge Ram HD and its 6.7-liter Cummins inline-six already meet 2010 emissions standards.)

We’ve previously reported about Ford’s upcoming 6.7-liter, eight-cylinder in-house replacement for the current 6.4-liter V-8 Power Stroke, code-named Scorpion. Now we’ve received new information from sources about GM’s updated 6.6-liter Duramax V-8, plus this close-up spy photo.
General Motors uses three-letter identifiers to designate each new iteration of Duramax. The current 2007-10 LMM Duramax is designed to run on ultra-low-sulfur diesel fuel and work with a diesel particulate filter to cut soot emissions 90 percent from 2006 levels. The LMM’s replacement is said to be called the LML Duramax.

The LML is expected to be GM’s cleanest diesel engine yet. Some have speculated that its displacement would grow to 6.9 liters for emissions reasons, but our sources say it will continue to be a 6.6-liter V-8.
In addition to trapping almost all particulates, the LML will have to cut nitric oxide levels by at least 90 percent from today using urea selective catalytic reduction.

NOx is a major air pollutant that contributes to smog, asthma, and respiratory and heart diseases. It's a byproduct of diesel’s high combustion temperatures, which result from the high frictional heat levels created by compressing air in the cylinders to the point that it can ignite diesel fuel without using a spark.

The use of urea -- which is being sold under the more marketable name “diesel exhaust fluid” -- will require periodic DEF refills during refueling or regularly scheduled maintenance.

But the LML won’t use urea alone to lower NOx. Our sources say the LML will also add a second exhaust gas recirculation cooler to the engine, similar to the dual-EGR cooler setup that the 6.4-liter Power Stroke diesel uses.

EGR recirculates a portion of the engine's exhaust back into the engine at a lower temperature. The cooled gases have a higher heat capacity and contain less oxygen than air, lowering combustion temperatures and reducing the formation of NOx.
Like the LMM, the LML Duramax is e
xpected to stay with a single variable vane turbo, but the wastegate plumbing for its exhaust appears to have changed considerably compared with the older engine. This is likely for emissions reasons.

When the original 2001-04 LB7 6.6-liter Duramax V-8 debuted, it helped pioneer the use of solenoid-controlled common-rail fuel injection in HD pickups. The LML is said to be upgraded to state-of-the-art piezo-electric injectors, which can react faster to fuel demands than solenoids can.
One of the major innovations of GM’s now-shelved 4.5-liter V-8 “baby” Duramax was the use of compacted graphite iron in the engine block to keep weight down and increase strength. For now, the LML is expected to stick with a conventional, heavier gray iron block.

In the photo, you can see the LML test engine has two alternators. We believe the second alternator will be an option for certain commercial applications, like ambulance prep packages.

The same aluminum heads used in the LMM and LBZ Duramax engine are said to continue unchanged, though the pistons are expected to feature a new oil-flow design to improve temperature control.

Almost a year ago, in the first spy photos of 2011 Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra heavy-duty mules, we noted that the inlet in the middle of the front bumper that feeds air to the truck's transmission oil cooler was about a third larger than the current inlet. We wondered what changes GM might be planning for the Silverado’s Allison transmission and EGR system. Our sources say the LML will continue to use a six-speed automatic. Some work had been done experimenting with an eight-speed automatic for improved fuel economy and towing performance, but it’s said it was determined to be too costly. The large inlet is likely due to increased use of EGR and what’s said to be major changes to the Allison gearbox’s torque converter.

We expect power ratings for the LML Duramax to be approximately 700 pounds-feet of torque and 390 horsepower.
