Desert Riding Dumont/Glamis

In the next few days I am heading out to Dumont for the four stroke wars (ATV Races) and then heading down to Glamis for a week on the dunes. I spent a little time in Dugway, UT and have ridden a ton at Little Sahara, OK which are both desert type climates but I still have my questions about the SOCAL area.
Anyone on here been to the SOCAL desert areas? If so do you have any last min suggestions?
