    The return of "Mr. Daytona"

Should be interesting. Glad to see him ALIVE, let alone keep his leg, let alone race after what happened to him at Daytona the last time he did the 200. For those that didn't see it, it was a horrible accident, and he's lucky to be alive.

I went to his partner's site. Looks like another racing school (for street and track riders) is up and coming. Their website is not fully up and running but it gives the basics. I'd be interested to hear from anyone attending the school.

Seriously. I never would have thought we'd see Scott back out there. Very cool. Old age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill.

"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self- preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property, and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

To see him, DuHamel, Chandler, and Mladin out there in a REAL (Superbike NOT minibike) 200 would really be cool! Just like Olde School!

With a retro paint scheme, hell that would be money! There would be a feeding frenzy for replica 10r's and gear.

Best of luck to him on that shitty Yamaha though, he's got his work cut out for him.

    Yes indeed.

Yeah, true dat! Now, if they were on Suzukis, you know then they'd have a chance up front!

I had been a Ru$$ell fan for years. Watched him try to run a Harley at the AMA race at PPIR.

The last wreck that he was in seemed to be a career ender. It'll be fun to watch him race at Daytona again.

He just raced at the CCS races this weekend in prep for the AMA. He was turning 1:42's while the top superstock times will probably be a bit faster. If he can drop a couple seconds he's got a shot at a top 15.

Yeah, that was a vicious accident. Man, I saw photo's of his leg after the crash, it was gruesome. There was so much swelling (typical when flesh is smashed like that) that they had to cut his leg open like gutting a fish, and let it sit open like that for weeks until the swelling went down to prevent the compartment syndrome that almost took Doohan's leg.

I wish him the best, and it should make things more interesting. Now, if only the AMA would pull their heads out of their ass and return the Superbikes to their rightful place at Daytona....the 200, not the sideshow.

Sort of a side note, but I recall that he had an insurance policy that protected against career ending injury. He collected on the policy and one of the conditions of the collection was that he could not return to professional racing. I wonder how the legalities of that worked out?

You begin your riding career with a bag full of luck and an empty bag of experience. The trick is to fill the bag of experience before you empty the bag of luck.

In an interview before the race, Scott thanked Lloyds of London for allowing him to race again.

It also appeared that Scott may run other races this year. Hope so.
