    Jetting for Dirt Bike

    Figured I'd throw this out here... since most live at altitude and someone might have some info.

    I've got a little XR200R that I do not think it set up to run at higher elevation. From what I can tell it still has the stock jets... so I have tried to 'open up' the airbox a little and it has a (supposedly) high flow TwinAir filter. I've also removed a small restrictor tip on the exhaust muffler to help the air flow somewhat. It starts pretty easily, idles pretty good, and runs pretty good overall. Although, if I whack the throttle open at idle or just off idle it will bog and die. But, I can roll on the throttle ok with little to no problems. The plug is generally lightly fouled with dry carbon (but keeps on runnin). And when ridden above 10,000ft it definatley will not idle (I just don't stop ).

    Don't feel like dumpin much $$ into it... but would like it run it's best. I've thought about just picking up a bunch of jets and seeing what I can come up with. I would guess that I should go down a size or two... on the main and maybe even on the pilot/idle?? Anyone have any good suggestions? Or better yet, an xr200 that they ride up in the hills?? Should I even worry about it? Or should I try to eliminate the bog and get the plug running clean and tan?

    Any info or suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

    If you're running at a higher elevation most of the time Try a 93.5 or 94 main. And if your going to change the slow jet, 32 or 32.5.

    The stock main is a 102 and the stock slow is a 35.

    I believe that should be it. I'm sure I'll be corrected if wrong.

    Forgot to mention mine is a '97 model. Stock jetting is, I believe, 110 and 38... which mine is currently running.

    But I get your meaning

    With those jets you should be good at:

    Main = 101 or 101.5

    Slow = 35
