Replacement class rumored to be 600cc four-strokes.
Two-strokes will be phased out of MotoGP and the new rules for the four-stroke class will be unveiled at the French MotoGP round this weekend.
Early reports suggest that the new class will comprise of four-stroke 600cc machines, taking MotoGP even closer to the World Superbike and domestic superbike series.
Needless to say, this change has not been popular with those involved in the sport. HRC appear to be the leading force in pushing the switch to four-stroke technology.
No new teams will be allowed to enter the series in its first year - to prevent teams jumping ship from Superbike classes and gaining an unfair early advantage.
The writing is on the wall for the end of the best racing class in the world.
