Glad he's sticking up for us by telling DMG we don't want them "Dumbing-down" AMA like the NASCRAP crowd wants to do.

Sounds like the other teams need to get their sh!t together. People didn't complain in the mid-late '80's when it was the Honduh show.

    Re: More Mladin quotes.

AMA faces multiple challenges, one is that for some reason for the past few years Suzuki has dominated the event. It's not about if people complain, or if they "like" it, it's if they buy tickets and ultimately the products that the riders are advertising. If the stands are empty that's not a good sign, and something that hasn't been a problem when the GP bikes come to the US. It's not that americans aren't interested in motorcycle racing then, it's something else. I think a good measure will be to see how full the stands are at Miller, arguably a pretty out of the way place for most US fans to visit, for WSBK. IF THOSE stands are full, then the problem is the AMA, it's class structure or it's rules and I have to say, if DMG wants to experiment to make it better, then more power to them.

Generally speaking when I race I'd much rather be locked in a battle for third than running away with first. Sure, winning is fun, but it's the racing that's exciting. The spectators know it too, and WSBK has been the most exciting series to watch in the past couple of years because on any given weekend and number of people might win it. DMG is simply trying to bring that kind of competition into the picture. In the end will it be good? who knows, but like Mladin said, nothing is forever and if you do something long enough eventually it will succeed. This argument works as effectively against his point as it does for it.

Hey Scott! Missed you at Super-Scers party the other day!

Anyways, I went to the first USGP held in the US in 25 years in '88 (Lawson won it), and went every year until '93 I believe it was. The classic 2-stroke era. Then, the USGP wasn't run again for years until the modern MotoGP era because.....you guessed it, attendance problems. It's not that the racing wasn't great, it was a host of other problems including the facilities and spectator and traffic access to Laguna. AMA faces a difficult challenge, but dumbing down the bikes isn't a solution.
