    Suzuki sv1000 - Wrecked....Is it repairable?

How does one know if a bike that has been in a severe accident (broken Frame) is worth repairing. This bike ran great and a friend on a test drive wrecked at 40 mph (swerved to avoid hitting head on car but smashed in the back of a pickup parked in a no parking zone).
The bike will start and idle and I have no idea about the transmission.

How do I go about finding out if its repairable? I know a frame would cost $500 but I am not sure how much other damage there is.

I know it would be hard to say anything without actually looking at the bike but any info would help...

    I really miss my bike!!!

    Strong fooking welds.

IMHO that bike's not worth enough to fix it.

You've got a big, hefty repair bill for a relatively inexpensive bike. With a hit that hard there's way more shit broken than just the frame. And you'll be weeks/months sorting it all out. Besides, it'll never ride the same again, just ask Scott.

I'd say part it out and buy another, oh and ask your friend for the rest of the $$$.

    Just my $.02.

    P.S. Hope your buddy's ok.

It doesnt seem like it was the welds, its that plastic like aluminum that cracked.

That poor SV, part her out......If you do, I'll take any good turn signals, and tail lights. Let me know!

thats why no one test rides a bike im selling unless they hand me cash first.

if you can find a frame for 500 bucks and it clean and straight, i say go for it.
only if you can do the work yourself, and if the engine cases are not busted.

looks like you will need a subframe and forks aswell, rear sets, exhaust full, and prolly swingarm.

to break both frame spars, id say your buddy was doing alittle bit more than 40mph.

do you have insurance? how much will buy back be?
