    Re: Trail Ridge ride 6/1...

    Sooo...how was today's ride? Um...wow!

We started out with a slow ride up to Estes via hwy34, cuz there were lots of people going up to the hills today. Meh, that was fine since today's ride was gonna be more about scenery and pictures than getting from one place to another. Yep, I decided to shorten it a tad. It was a good thing, since I haven't really ridden long distance yet, and I wanted to also stop and enjoy the beauty.

We made up to the top of Trail Ridge quite nicely and stopped first at the Forest Canyon Overlook.

It was pretty cool up there, both in views and in temps. But, we wanted to do at least one stop along the way to stretch our legs a bit...

    Awwwe...

After listening to my stomach growling for about half an hour, we made our lunch break in Grand Lake at Max and T's Bar and Grille.

Shoulda taken the pic of the food when it arrived, instead of after I had finished it. I had the Caribean Pork Sandwich. It included pulled pork, sweet onions and cranberry chipotle sauce on a grilled flat bread.

If you've ever been on hwy125, you know of the different parts of that road...some of it nice and sweeping/twisty and the rest a complete straight-away for miles. Another name for this part of Colorado is North Park...

Um, Jen...I don't mean to bug ya or anything, but I think you are the one who's supposed to wear the helmet;-) This is the moose ranger station on the road up to Cameron Pass.

Every canyon we rode in today had a very swollen river. The Poudre River was no exception. It was pretty high as well. I just didn't get a good shot of the river.

Well, at least my camera got the bird feeder into focus;-)

About a mile into Stove Prairie Road going South, I came up on several stopped vehicles and people walking down into a ravine. It seemed someone had crashed their van and it was flipped on its side. Luckily no one was in the van. It may have been an old crash, but only by about a day. Strange how it was still there.

The hood of the van still felt a tad warm when I stopped to make sure no one was hurt. It looked like someone walked out of there. If you looked at the tracks the van was on all four tires at the bottom of that little ravine.
