So after reading a bit on some SV forums, I decided to change my coolant with some Engine Ice. 5 Beers and 7 hours later I finished the job. Given three of those hours were spent in the hospital for my girlfriend's mom, I still think I did a good job of doing my first change on this bike. The steps I took were

  1. Drained old coolant from water pump drain plug.
  2. Flushed with 50/50 of distilled water and white vinegar.
  3. Flushed with just distilled water.
  4. Flushed again with water.
  5. Cleaned out overflow reservoir.
  6. Filled system up with Engine Ice.
There were probably too many steps but it was a learning experience non the less. And with the Engine Ice, I had the bike idle for ten minutes and never went above 200. In fact, the temp jumped up and down from 194 to 189. To top it off, I even have pics of my endeavour. Enjoy!
