Unhappy Leaking on my Suzuki GS500F, Help?

I started noticing a leaking of what appears to be oil under the right side of my bike. It is a consistent drip, coming from a loose tubing under the fairing near the rear brake. What might this be? How does one fix a problem like this?

Can you tell what the line comes from/goes to? Did you change your oil recently and what does your oil level look like?

there is a loose tube there, just hanging down?

If so then it's likely either your battery vent or your gas tank vent.

If you filled the bike up recently and it's been sitting in the sun, it could simply be fuel expansion that is heading out the vent.

If its from the battery, then I might suggest you have a bad voltage regulator that's overcharging the battery and causing it to boil over.

    Best to you

Well I know it's not the gas tank overflow... I'm pretty sure it's not the battery because the tube appears to be attached to a small black box adjacent to the gas tank but not attached to the gas tank.

And it is just hanging down and doesn't look like it's supposed to be attached to anything... so I think it's an overflow for something. But it's not just a small drip, it's been a constant leak for about 2 months, but all the fluids look good. My oil is due for a change though...

Thanks for the replies! I really appriciate it.

Can you get me a picture of it? I will go out and check my wife GS out to see if I can help you troubleshoot.

Couldn't be the battery then, it'd be dead by now.
My best guess is the coolant or fuel overflow.
Only things I can think of that can leak for 2 months and not deplete the supply.

Jeff the GS500F is oil/air cooled.
If you have dripping from the hose area, I would guess that oil is leaking from somewhere on the engine above the hose and just traveling down the hose. Inspect the engine for leaks.

    my 2 cents worth

agreed. Can you tell what color the liquid is? maybe it's as simple as the oil filter's not screwed on tight enough
