    July 27th Trackday - INFORMATION

This is the thread with information about the July 27th Trackday. Please post all questions and such here. There is a separate sign up thread that I will be closing for questions, but which will be updated frequently.

July 27th CSC Trackday NEED TO KNOW INFO

    Hi everyone!

So here it is; The (almost) Everything You Need To Know Thread!

    Stuff you need:

    1. Education – You need to have some kind of formal track riding training. Things that qualify: The PMP safety course, a valid (last three years) road racing license from a recognized organization, A current (last three years) certificate from a qualified school (Freddie Spencer, Pridmore, Keith Code etc)
    2. Full leathers- one piece preferred, 2 piece acceptable if they zip all the way around.
    3. A back protector
    4. A full-face helmet (flip ups are not acceptable)
    5. Gloves that extend past your wrist
    6. Boots that cover your ankles
    7. Emergency contact information in an obvious place (tell a friend)

If you need to take a class there are limited number of spots available for this day. Please see the sign up thread for more details.

    Stuff your bike needs:

    1. Bike should be in good condition- no leaks of any kind (including fork seals). All parts should be properly secured to the bike
    2. Tires should have at least 50% tread remaining
    3. Brake pads should have at least 50% remaining
    4. All antifreeze should be drained and replaced with straight water or water with water wetter. (this is VERY important)
    5. Mirrors are to be removed
    6. Lights are to be taped over (prefer disconnected)
    7. Extra Fuel – There is no fuel available at the track.

While there won't be any formal tech inspection, bikes will be spot checked and you will be asked to correct any deficiencies. Do your homework ahead of time and make sure your bike is ready to go.

    A basic schedule:

    7:00 AM - Gate Opens
7:30 AM - All rider meeting
8:00 AM - Track goes hot (Fast Group) - Class Starts
    8:20 AM - Medium Group
8:40 AM - Class / Slow has the track
    9:00 AM - Fast
    9:20 AM - Medium
    9:40 AM - Class / Slow
    Repeats Until Lunch
12:00 - Lunch Track will be cold during lunch. We will do door prizes at this time and have an afternoon riders meeting.

After lunch we will be sticking with 20 Minute sessions (Fast at the top of the hour, Medium in the middle, Slow at the end)

Crashing: If you crash in the morning I'm going to ask you to take a significant break. At the discretion of the medics (for checking out you) and a qualified instructor (for checking out your bike) you MIGHT be allowed back out on the track after lunch. If you crash after lunch, I'm sorry, but your day is done. Best solution....don't crash. Most crashes during this day will mean that session gets red flagged so that we can make sure the day remains safe for all and check out the person who fell down to make sure they are OK.

Refunds: Please be sure you want to and can make it to this day when you sign up. I won’t be giving refunds if you don’t show. There are a limited number of spots available and I’m certain they will be in high demand.

    Other Info:

PMP has graciously offered to open their cafe for us during the day.

We will have an ambulance, medics and corner staff on site all day (let's try not to need them!)

We will have Vanmar Racing on site with tire changing equipment!

Dave, with Single Track Mind (fixmybike.com) is going to be there offering basic suspension set up for a very reasonable price (IRDAVE on the board here)

There are going to be other vendors on site too, but I have not yet finalized the details with them. I will add to this post when more info becomes available.

Sorry Scott, not sure if this is the right place to post this?

Anybody have a spot in a trailer that's going down on this day? I want to sign up for the class, but want to make sure I can get down there (and back).
Or any recommendations? Thanks in advance!

The day after (July 28th) is a bike-only day as well.

I'm thinking this will be two day event for me.

If I was to sign up for the class now. But made it down there before then to take the class would I be able to switch to a non-class rider to open up a stop for someone in the class.

Sure, just give me as much notice as you can and I'll either refund the difference to you or apply the balance to one of the days over Labor day.

I'm most likely gonna make this and could probably get my hands on a trailer for the day. I'd be coming down from Firestone...

Is the track open for camping that weekend?
(Including Sunday night for those of us planning to ride Monday?)

    Still really low.

I have less than 10 paid/confirmed riders at this point.

Re: July 27th Trackday - INFORMATION

    Just a heads up,

I'll be opening the option to this day to a wider audience next week. To this point the CSC has been the only group of riders this event has been available to. Starting next week I'll be posting flyers at some of the local motorcycle dealerships and opening the event to a couple other forums.

Weekend tracktime is hard to come by in Colorado, if you want to come please sign up soon so you don't miss out.

Is there still room in the class? I'll look for the sign up thread.

Might be a good idea to post up a thread a week or so before and coordinate some car/trailer pooling.

    Also,
In the same thread we can see what spare gear people might have to loan.
I have a spare back protector I can definitely lend out.
Possibly some leathers (that fit a 6'2" 205lb rider) but that will depend on if I ride or cornerwork this.
(Though I'd probably only loan out the leathers to someone I know, due to replacement cost if they get tested out.)

Could I puhlease borrow this from you?

I should be passing on some cash to Scott as soon as he gets back from R2SL to secure my spot in this track day.

Just have to figure out my PMI certification now
