Hello everyone. New guy to the forums here. Cosp600rr from the 600rr.net pointed me over this way.
I was looking for a track day in the Denver surrounding area, and looks like this is thread I was searching for. I was wondering if you all would let me come join you. I've taken a riding school class with Track Addicts and attended their trackdays at the MAM in Omaha. I however, do not own a back protector (at least not yet).
If you have room for 1 more in the slow group, I'd love to come along.
Thanks,
Benji
Hey Benji!
Welcome! I hope you're able to join us on the 27th! We have a spot for you for sure. PM me if you need more info, I'll get you what you need.
Thanks
Scott
I'll also have a spare back protector there at the track, along with my extra suit (it's just about right for 5'11" person, it's slightly tight on the boys at my 6'0") for anyone that needs it.
Motorcycles, good people, and a racetrack. What more do you need from your weekend? Get signed up already!

Man I'm really disappointed more people aren't turning out to support Scott & this WEEKEND Track Day
Seriously, Scott has gone out on a limb here to hook us all up with one of the best track day experiences we can get out hands on right now.
What's holding you back??
And on that note, Ralph (or rackedk6) could I please borrow your back protector?
Jon
Sure -- it'll be at the track with me, just come find me.

Thank you for the kind welcome.
racedk6 - I'll definitely take you up on your offer. I'm a pretty tall guy (6'3") so hopefully your extra back protector will fit. If not, I still have time to make other arrangements.
I was looking over the tech inspection details I noticed you guys require anti-freeze to be removed. I'm all for this, but I'm not sure as to where I can pick up some water wetter. Or is that an overkill.. and I could just use regular tap water?
Also, Scott - thanks for putting this together! Would you prefer it if I pre-paid?
I'm really looking forward to this weekend! I feel like a little kid waiting for Christmas =)
Hey Benji,
I would really appreciate it if you could pre-pay.
You can find Water Wetter and almost all of the autoparts stores. I know that Advance, Napa and Checker all carry it. It is an additive, so be sure to read the directions on the proper ratio for mixing it with water.
I would also recommend that you use distilled water instead of tap water. A gallon of it is only a buck or so at the grocery. It makes mixing the water wetter easier (mix it in the jug before you pour it into the bike!) and doens't have any minerals and such in it. You can leave the plain water in your cooling system all summer, it won't do any harm at all, then replace it with Anti-Freeze when fall rolls around.
Please let me know if you have any other questions! Looking forward to seeing you there! (tell all your friends!)
Scott
*edit* didn't answer your question- Generally speaking the water wetter is overkill, and straight water will work fine. That being said, it is July in Pueblo, so any extra cooling benefit you can get is probably a good thing. I'm running it in my bikes.
dont use tap water, it can leave deposits in your cooling system. go to the grocery store and pick up a gallon of distilled water and use that. if you can get some water wetter thats fine but dont sweat it if you cant. straight distilled water for one day will work fine since you will probably be putting antifreeze back in after the weekend is over.
**looks like Rybo beat me to it...
I have an extra back protector I can bring down too.
Maybe we can just centralize any spare equipment that isn't spoken for once down there.
Just hang a clipboard with "wanted" and "Available" columns.
Water wetter is available at most MC parts/accessory sections.
Don't use tap water though. Just get some distiled water from the grocery store.
(Edit) Ninja'd again.....yeah, what Jim said.
I'm not riding - but thinking about coming down to shoot some photos (or help in any other way needed). I won't be charging for pics, and will distribute freely (but I'm also not that good yet). BUT... I need a ride (and not interested in spending the night). I have spare gear if anyone needs it too (back protector, gloves, etc.).
Anyone going down early Sunday that has a spare seat?

Anybody up carpooling? My trailer is back in Iowa and won't make it out in time for the weekend =(
I'd be more than happy to hook someone up with gas money and meet them where ever in the Denver area.
If someone offers up a trailer I'm happy to pull it down with a couple of bikes on board....

Whats the rules for going down the night before?

You can go down the night before and camp at the track if you want or get a hotel room in town. There are bathrooms and showers at the track for you to use.
Rules? Pretty simple. Be respectful of the property and kind to the others who are camping there.

I'll have to check with Earlene, but if there is an extra fee it's pretty nominal like $10 or something to cover water and the such.
I'll find out for sure and get back with you.
