1,370 miles in 2-1/2 days.

Colorado, around Utah and back. Pics and route to follow.
Edit:
Went with my brotha from anotha mutha Steve (Scruff Dog) who rode his R1. Awesome ride! I'm going to post a map and pics of the ride, and explain the good and bad points about the route. Some routes were fantastic, some marked as "scenic" kinda sucked. So, I think this'll be good infor for anyone planning something like this. We kinda just winged it, and it turned out pretty epic. This is the longest ride, by far, I've done other than solo. So, who's up for doing a 4-day trip this 4th weekend?

Re: 1,370 miles in 2-1/2 days.

Ok, since I don't have the time or knowledge to do the nice Google thang, here's the trip in it's basic details:
-------------------------
Steve and I did 1,370mi this last weekend starting Sun at noon, and ending Tue night at around 9:30. It was an epic ride, from Loveland to Green River Utah Sunday night stopping at a rest area (CSC_IMG_0207 and 0210). Then Monday we went down 24 to Hanksville (excellent, pics CSC_IMG_0219 and 0226) , West to 70 (excellent), down 89 until we hit construction, then went North up 28 to Nephi (so-so). From there we took 132 East to Moroni, 89 North past Birdseye, to 6 East down to Price where we stayed the night (sorry no pics, but an excellent ride thru green foothills and canyons). I kinda think Tuesday was the best scenery though, as that morning we headed 6/191 South back to Green River/70 (pics CSC_IMG_0231 and 240), then went South on 191 down to Moab, and into the Canyonland Nat’l park (pics CSC_IMG_0245 thru 0253), then Steve stayed the night there to get another day’s riding in while I went home North up128 to Cisco. 128 was, in a word, fantastic (pics CSC_IMG_0256 thru 0270)! These pics are at 25% size, and even these cream-of-the-crop pics from the ride obviously still can't do the actual experience justice, but I thought I'd share. I hope Steve went 128 home as it was an amazing ride. The only bummer was I got rained on all the way home from before Gypsum in CO almost to Denver. I had my mesh jacket on because of the 100+ degree heat in Utah, and I was soaking wet and freezing by the time I got to Copper Mtn. Enjoy!
Edit: This was an interesting, nostalgic trip for me, because it was retracing about 1/2 of the trip I took solo in the summer of '85 when I rode from Ridgecrest CA to Boulder on my '83 GS1100ES. Let me tell you, riding the Gixxer vs. riding the GS couldn't be more different. The GS had a much more comfortable seat, and riding position, but the power, FI mapping (especiall over Vail pass) as opposed to the old rebuilt CV carbs and Kerker pipe, and the handling and power of the Gixxer are so far superior it's not even comparable. It's a whole new world now, as anyone who'd ridden the bikes of yesteryear will tell you. THIS, is truly the Golden age of sportbikes! I'll have to scan some of the pics from that trip and post them one of these days.

Frank - After we parted company in Moab, I rode down to Kayenta, AZ. and then worked myself east to Durango, Pagosa Springs, Chama, and then Walsenburg. In my opinon, that southern edge of Utah and Colorado may be as nice a ride as anywhere. My pain didn't come until I had to wade through July 3rd traffic on I-25 on the return to Loveland. All in all, it was a great trip bro. I'm going to work on forgiving you for not giving me a hand off of that rock ledge that dropped down about a million feet.

And, one of the great things about the trip was....I spent only about $140-ish in gas!
