Hayden to race Supermoto at X-Games

Nicky Hayden to race Supermoto in X-Games

The factory Honda rider asked his employer about racing the event but they didn't have a bike ready or the man-power to help him. So, they put him in touch with Troy Lee and he will be riding a Troy Lee Designs Red Bull Honda alongside Jeff Ward, David Pingree and Cassidy Anderson.

Nicky tested the bike several times this week and promptly posted lap times at Adams Cart Track in Riverside, one of the local Supermoto tracks, that were a full second quicker than the previous fastest lap at that track. Nicky follwed that up with some laps alongside his new teammates at the Honda supercross test track where he was a little less comfortable. Still, Hayden will be a favorite when the final blasts off the line for the Supermoto final this Saturday at 4:00pm PST. Watch it live on ESPN.

12th place... seeding session. Didn't make the cut for the finals.

I guess the GP guys are on a whole different level on road courses, but this doesn't necessarily cross over into all motorsport. Either way, nice to see the cross over.

I believe he made the cut just choose not to race for some reason atleast thats what they said when I was watching it. They had 2 heats of 10 battling for spots in the finall top 5 went from each heat. Then one last chance of the 10 that didnt make it before top 2 went from that.

    No doubt....

I was thinking about it after Adam posted up where the seeding results turned out. So there you are Dalton Dimick, local club racer, great supermoto rider gridding up and the X games when you look to your right and see Nicky Hayden, GP world champion. That's pretty awesome.

Dalton is making an excellent showing on the road bike too, some guys are just fast. I'm not one of them.

There was love for Dalton over on supermotojunkie.com in the Rocky Mountain Supermoto section. I figured no one here would know him. I forgot he is doing the road race thing too.

Dalton is an awesome racer, He got caught up in the pile up and still managed to make his way up to 4th! There was a little tangle in the end and I think he managed to make 7th place with I believe a broken leg, Heal quick! see you at the track..

May not have been a good decision on Hayden's part:

Nicky Hayden Pays the Price for X Games Participation

    By Dirck Edge
Repsol Honda has announced that Nicky Hayden will miss next weekend's Brno round of the MotoGP series due to an injury sustained by Hayden at the X Games a week and one-half ago. Hayden injured his heel landing from a jump on the SuperMoto course. Hayden stated he had the permission of his employer HRC to participate in the X Games

The timing of the injury is particularly bad for Hayden given his need to perform well over the next few races to gain negotiating leverage for a contract next year.
