    The Dragon : April 15-22-05

as a few of you know, a group of us went out to ride the dragon last june

we are planning on taking the trip again next year. some dates have already been talked about, and spring is looking like the time everyone is intrested in so far.

we are going to do a few things diffrent this year as far as hotels and time at the gap. we are going to try to find a house on a nearby lake to rent for the week. this would allow for some relaxation between dragon slaying events

if you are intrested in going on this trip now is the time to start planning and saving your pennies. i know a few of you missed this trip last year but expressed some intrest in the next trip. so post up and lets get this thing planned.

I'm down for just about anytime as long as my boss lets me have the time off work

I need to find out Beth's school schedule as well. What tentative dates are we talking about so far?

Beth's spring break is March 21st through the 25th, and the weekends before and after that obviously.

    note taken

those dates may be a wee bit early because of the unpredictable weather in March

    we'll see though

Searching tonight for information.....was thinking April or early May to ensure good weather, but I would like to be there more spring than summer this year.
I will also start searching for houses out that way. I know wahoowoman wants the house thing so they can relax while we ride......not driving down to Mertyl Beach again....TOO FAR

May 5th is Beth's last day of finals. The 6th would be the earliest that her and I could leave.

Emails sent to several places...found some sweet locations with great activities and amenities. This will also play a part when we go depending on availability of lodging and also what is going on at the Gap---I don't want to be sharing the dragon with 100 cobra mustangs or anything like that

I'll be watching this-here thread pretty carefully. Since MotoGP at Laguna has a 5 year run contracted, I might skip-out on that, and see about something like this.

I know you guys raved about it last time.

I'll definitely be keeping an eye here as well. Life should be a bit more relaxed by next spring....

Re: The Dragon : dates for next year

Found some great looking properties and waiting for some phone calls and emails. As Gramps and I have spoken we are looking at mid April for the trip...week long. As far as my plans.....several days of riding divided up with doing some more of the local activities in the area. It is beautiful there and want to enjoy some of that too (or so I say that now, probably won't get off the bike once I am there)
    - whitewater rafting, fishing(one property has this on site), casino nearby (Barn I am thinking of you bro), horseback riding, boating, hiking, etc....LOTS to do. Have to have a place the ladies can do some things while we are riding a few days. Anyway I will keep everyone posted on details....as will Gramps I am sure.
Tentative Dates I am thinking about:
Depart on April 15th or 16th. In NC until the 21st or 22nd and head home.
Any further ideas welcomed......this is gonna be TWICE as good as last year!

Re: The Dragon : dates for next year

so far our dates of 15-22 look clear

the honda s2 club is usually the first planned event and it looks like they have planned for the 22-24 of april

so we are full on for the 15-22

this is one of the houses i have been looking at:

this will give everyone something to look forward to while we can't ride on these snowy nasty winter days

Well, as Tom and I have discussed I probably won't be attending the gap this year. Kinda bummed about it, but in the long run it will work out for the better.

    Alright.....
I have messages into 5 different places for lodging (renting a house) This willl be MUCH cheaper and LOTS more room. So soon as I hear from them I will get you all more details.
I am curious who all is still thinking or planning on this. All I know right now is Myself, wife, Gramps, wife, and ???????????
I can't wait to get some better photos this year and more video action!

I'm still planning on this also. Am I going to need to rent a truck or something, to get the bike out there?
