    Re: Where have I been?

I have never met you, since I am probably the newest member to the CSC family, however I am deeply touched by your story and I wish you a full and speedy recovery along with everybody else.In the same breath I would like to say how impressed I am with this whole forum, there seem to be so many decent nice folks here brought together by the love of bikes....Please ask if you need anything at all .You are in our prayers.Cj

    Re: Where have I been?

Again like everyone else, if you need anything don't hesitate. When i got injured there were a lot of people from this site that were around and willing to help me out.

I know it's still a little early. But like i said before, keep your head up. There are plenty of disabled people that still ride.

Even better, there are now companies that make equipment for the disabled rider. There's a company called AKS Stabilizer's that makes this things that looks like training wheels. when you get on the throttle the wheels lift off the ground and drops back down when you apply the brakes. Unfortunately couldn't find any info.

Here's a couple of inspiring videos.

Not to change the topic, but there was a guy out at Miller this year with the same kind of bars on his bike. They called'em "wheelie bars". And this guy would go out in the "race" group and pass almost everybody. Most of the riders would come in and ask who he was. He was sick fast! Disability is just a word to some people.

Chris, I was sad to hear of your accident, and hope you have a speedy recovery. I'll see you soon.

Chris and I talked not only at Brothers, but at the CSC picnic and also played some frisbee there. You know that feeling you get when first meeting a person...that feeling like "hey, this is a really neat person..." Yeah...ok, touchy feely here, but yeah...that's the feeling I got when we talked...so, yeah...

There's this ache in the pit of my stomache, Chris. I want nothing but the best for you.

Scott, let me know when you go and I might want to tag along.

    Re: Where have I been?

    Hi all,

So I got to go down and visit Chris last night and sit with him for a while. While I was there another Chris (Arachaeon) showed up and we got to spend some time together.

The human spirit never ceases to amaze me, and Chris reaffirmed this feeling in me yesterday. His attitude is positive, he is truly upbeat and his smile contagious. I'm not sure that if faced with the same set of circumstances that I could ever match his level of positive.

While I was there the facility was graced with a visit from members of the US Paralympic team. The US Rugby team won the Gold in Beijing and we got to meet some of the athletes and hold the medals. Chris even got to wear a gold.

I'll be visiting frequently over the coming months and will try to keep this post updated.

    Re: Where have I been?

    Chris,

What did you do for a living prior to the accident?

I take it you have full use of your arms, hands and shoulders?

Just tossing about a few thoughts in my head.

I recently rode as a mtotorcycle escort for the paralympic riders. Man, those guys and gals have what it takes. Also, while on a the way to Indy I had a trike rider pass me up. Met up with him at a gas station. The dude had one mechanical leg to help him get around and said the other just got in the way.

Good luck with the heal up.
