Anyhow, the point I was making to you was that you just joined and so far have instigated many of these threads with little understanding on the other members basic qwirks and ideology. You cried fowl and made accusations with out even knowing fellow members history or their basic philosophy behind them. That part takes time on you to warm up to the membership. You have had less than a month and have so far created a moniker by others for your early judgement.
I have no idea what you're talking about. I started one thread about a yellow ninja tearing up traffic. I haven't instigated any threads other than that. I've played with Haikus...is that a problem? Most forums are for substance and fun and opinion. You are welcome to list all of my posts. Again, I thought everyone got a voice. I'll find another forum and leave this one for you while all the other Christians except Salsa sit on their hands, cuz we all know Christians don't ride bikes.

Yin and Yan or ying and yang - both are acceptable...look again.

When you dig yourself into a hole, you're never going to get out if you keep digging...
Do not put off living the life you dream of. Next year may never come. If we are always waiting for something to change...
Retirement, the kids to leave home, the weather or the economy, that's not living. That's waiting!
Waiting will only leaves us with unrealized dreams and empty wishes.

Point taken on the Yin and Yan comment.

The democrats want to take your guns thread is one example where, for a time the thread was on the verge of imploding. Like I stated earlier, my comment in that thread was mainly directed at David, (do to his history) and alittle towards you for, your lack of history and also to your small part in how that thread was going.

    Re: Triumph of Ignorance

    Religion is not inherently ignorant.
For thousands of years most cultures literacy was only progressed and maintained by the study of their particular religious volumes.

If it were not for Irish priests keeping both the Christian Bible as well as the classics of Greek literature alive during the Dark Ages
we would never have had the Renaissance and the Dark Ages would have lasted at least another 100 years.

Fundamentalist attitudes of any belief, or non-belief, are where ignorance is truly bred.

Oh, ever the martyr... try meeting some of these people in person and riding with them instead of rolling onto an existing forum and soap boxing about everything. Maybe then you won't feel the need to self ban...

hmmm I think Douggie's on to something... Butters?

There's another kind of arrogance, Dirk. This one is a tad more destructive than what you mentioned.

I was gonna post the following and then saw Dougie's hate post and couldn't help but weep a tad, cuz you all know I sit here and look at pictures and cry my eyes out at everyone of them...*cough*(bs).

Anyhoo, on to what I wanted to add to the intent of the thread...

If I may, Dirk. And my opinions in no way is a slam on anyone at all, but rather a pondering...a quizzical look at the world (our world here in America) in general.

My take on that article is more like this...

People who do not "think"...who do not wish to go beyond that which they know and that which makes them comfortable tend to put down others for attempting to stretch their minds and offer up other choices in our country. If it doesn't fit into their world, then they tend to put down, rather than open up their minds and learn about what is being offered to them.

In that same token, that is what seems to have happened (generally speaking) in this country. More people who feel better not leaving their comfort zones, who feel better having their lives dictated by religious teachings are speaking up and saying that broad thinking not only does not fit into their (personal) world, but it shouldn't fit into our world either (our world here in America).

Now when I look at that article and read what the author was saying about the religious right and how it seems to have "dumbed down" America...I can see why someone on the outside looking in might say that.

I don't necessarily take the same offense that a lot of people here seem to take to that article. Rather, I wonder if there's something our society can do to make a change. It's one thing to say, "I have no idea what you're talking about, I'm perfect in all aspects, so stop questioning me!" as compared to "Have I made some poor decisions? Have I not tried to include everyone in my decisions? Have I not tried to look at the bigger picture? And if I have not, what can I do to repair the mistakes?"

The entitlement attitude still runs deep in our country, as well as arrogance, which is a very dangerous attitude and is only now coming back to bite us in the tail.
...ready to take on the world...one canyon at a time...
