Computer help PLEASE
Ok SOCO anyone got any good suggestions or hopefully know someone that can fix my laptop????? Last night I went to black.
In other words is was working on it and the screen just went black, I shut it down and rebooted and everything comes on you can hear it booting up but nothing just black screen. I would really love to save it as it has all my accounting stuff on it for my second job.
Any suggestions kids???????

I might be able to help what kind of laptop do you have
Have you tried plugging in another moniter into your laptop and then pressing the Func key to switch from the laptop screen to the external moniter?
I'm guessing you have a bad laptop screen or maybe a bad video card.
This will tell you which has gone bad. If it is the video card an external screen won't come up either. If it is just the laptop screen then the external moniter will have your normal desktop come up.
Some laptop companies will let you replace the screen and some won't.
You'll have to contact the manufacturer to find out.

your inverter went bad..... its a cheap part ($20) and relatively easy to fix if you have ever been inside of a laptop. when mine went out, all i had to do was take the screen apart, the inverter was held in by 3 screws and plugged into the screen. If you have someone else do it, it will cost you around $100

As the Co I work for is paying for the repairs I am thinking I won't be making this a DIY thing any thoughts on a place to take it to.

Was not a bad inverter BTW. Mobo is on it's way out.

Good to hear that you are getting it fixed. Sometimes all it takes is a phone call to India and they will pick it up and fix it for you for free.
Anyone have an idea why a laptop plug has to be plugged in a certain way before it charges the battery? Bad male connector? Bad female connection?

That is due to a bad connector on the mobo of the laptop. either the inner or outer pin is not connecting with the AC adapter properly. Is this on a Dell? If so, what model?

Toshiba Satellite, model a 75 IIRC but the label on the bottom has worn off.
