Wow.
I can see the son's piont of view, and bless him for his perspective. I am not sure I would be capable of such compassion. But I would think at least the 30 days, even if it was "weekend jail."
Of course we will never know the whole story, so my heart goes out to all involved.

Drinking and driving is a crime, you should do time for it. Killing someone while committing a crime should add a felony on top of the existing punishment. Until the court system truly recognizes the severity of committing a DUI, people will continue to do it.
The convict is lucky she killed someone with a compassionate family, I would have raised holy hell every step of the way and did everything I could to make sure that dumba$$ spends many birthdays in prison.
Maybe she "learned her lesson" but that wouldn't be good enough for me. She should pay for her lesson as well.
