We have about 75% of the lights in our house switched over They are damned expensive and take forever to warm up (the flood light versions) but dayum they are efficient and make me feel better about our energy use.

I really should learn to turn the oven off tho. I really DO like to leave it on at 450 al the time just in case I need to bake something in a hurry.

I'm turned on by your proper spelling and appropriate use of the word "sophomorically".

They all advertise they last longer, save juice etc, but has anyone seen a comparison test done on how effective the bulbs really are?

Weird, a dozen or so King Soopers in Denver area are selling them, no one is selling them discounted in COS.

After work I'm going to get high and cruise Park Meadows for either Desperate Housewives with a penchant for Happy Hour, or Coeds with a keen eye for temp tags and spikey hair.

That's because COS gets power from Colorado Springs Utilities, not Xcel.

I bought some energy efficient bulbs from HD last year and the ones in my kitchen have burned out all ready. And one of them that I don't use a lot has to be tapped to turn on. But they do work pretty well.

I swapped my entire house over to the cute little twirlies well over a year ago... Bill never went down. In fact Id say due to the constant rate hikes, I pay more than I did a year ago. Whoopty frickin do !!! I pay more and have to wait 2-3 mins for the warm up so I can actually see in a room I walk into. Yeah Environment/ lower energy consumption !!

Re: $1 energy efficient lightbulbs from Xcel

They had the 4 packs on sale at Home Depot about a year ago and I picked up a couple.
Must be different twisty types than some of you have, they come on instantly.

They've lasted a year so far in a 1927 house (notorious for power surges)
    without issue.
Don't know how much I've saved on running them, never really kept track.
Bought them mostly for the (supposed) life expectency which so far has been good since I used to loose a bulb a month on average.

    EDIT:
Just checked out the mapping for locations, man it sucks!
THey're off by blocks on some locations and on the wrong side of the street on others.
