    WTB: Pistol Poll

I am getting a Pistol for my birthday in March, and I have made a list of pistols I would like to look at and get one of.

I am looking for a good all around pistol for self defense, CCW, and recreation. I would like a .45ACP or .40S&W, but a good 9mm would work too. Also, I am looking to spend about $500, so I am looking for a gun that has a lot of features and quality with a good price.

I held a Baby Eagle and I like that gun a lot, but I have not heard a lot about them

If you like a gun that is not on the list, select other, and put the model in a post.

I really like my Glock in the .40S&W. I have a full frame, but I am a full fram guy so I have no problem carrying it concealed in a shoulder holster.

Have you looked at Ruger's? They are not the top tier like Sig or Glock, but for home protection I think it's one of the better weapon's for their price.

I will have to take a look at the Spring Field, they look good and I know they are a respectable brand.

I have a Glock 23 (mid frame), I love it. I shot a half a dozen other brands before I settled on the Glock. The H&K USP compact was my second choice.

The New version has plenty of nice features, I'm not sure but you may have to watch the videos on their site. It's available in 9mm .40S&W and .45ACP

Some people from a FZ1 forum I made the same poll in like this gun a lot. It has that "semi-auto pistol" look I like.

I have Baby Eagles in both 9mm and .45, They're good guns, but a bit heavy for concealed carry. I'm thinking either a Glock 30 or a Smith & Wesson M&P .45, when I get a bit more disposable cash. All of my friends that carry have M&P .40s and love 'em, but I need to add another caliber to the stable like I need Hillary Clinton as my mother in law.....

I was looking through Springfield site, and I have landed on the XD(M) .40ACP. I heard its a little pricey, but has a lot of good features.

I am going to check out the top 3 or so guns from the poll a gun shop for my final decision.

I noticed too that it was a little heavy. My future father-in-law has the M&P and he loves it too. I am a fan of Smith & Wesson because of my Dad's 357 magnum.

    Re: WTB: Pistol Poll

I Have shot every gun on this list with exception of the M&P. I own a Baby Eagle, and a Glock 19 9mm. I prefer the Glock for every day use. I have shot a lot of round with the baby eagle, and if you were just looking for a bed side table gun I would say go with that, but since you are looking for CCW then I would go for Glock. Simple stupid for the Win in defense situations.

Lets ask a few more basic questions, First are you left or right Handed? Have you owned/ shot one particular type of pistol in that past? When you say carry, do you mean on your person or just left in your car?

Sig is also a hell of a gun, but im a Lefty therefore can't use it. H&K is pretty expensive, and if you are a lefty more the price up another 120-200 bucks for left handed. 1911's are great but pretty heavy, low ammo holding and have to me converted to lefty if you want left.

I am planning a trip to the range one of these days soon, if you wanted to try a glock 19 and a baby eagle let me know.

    Re: WTB: Pistol Poll

I shoot mostly rifles and shotguns (12 gauge, 20 gauge, 30-30, 30o6 scoped). My Dad owns a S&W .357, which I love shooting. I am right handed, and I do not mind powerful guns, I just do not like un-controllable guns (i.e. snub nose pistols with crazy recoil). That is why I was looking into a .40 or .45.

As for CCW, I am not sure if I am going to carry on person yet, because most of my time is at work or school which I cannot carry in neither.

P.S. I wonder if I can get my barrel stamped like your signature pic lol

    Re: WTB: Pistol Poll

I have a Beretta 96FS .40 and love it, but it seems like it would be a little large for CC. However if you'd like to meet up at the range and fire some rounds, just let me know. I like the feel over the Glock; having shot both, this one just fit my hands better. Light recoil, accurate, well built, etc.

Personally I'm thinking one of the small-frame Sig's for CC, but haven't actually fired one.

I just picked up my USPc from a member here, and i love the USP line for pistols. On a normal day, all 3 get stuck somewhere on me.... too bad HK doesnt make a USP thats as small as my P32, so i can have a matching trio but its a nice little reliable, concealable hole maker nonetheless.

I will do some more research and send out PMs to the people with guns willing to let me shoot. I think I like the Baby Eagle, XDm .40, and M&P .40 so far.

Jolt, the XDm is the one with the larger mag right?
