How do you deal with a breakup???

I have seen it mentioned off hand couple people who went through breakups recently, divorces, ends to things that they didn't want to end.

So, out of curiosity, how do you deal with the end to a relationship? We are talking involved (year+ not weeks/months), deeply caring for someone and it ends, well, not so mutually (like, surprise!! my ex is moving back and I never gave a shit about you).

Figure this might be a nice change of something to talk about without the political BS

Do not put off living the life you dream of. Next year may never come. If we are always waiting for something to change...
Retirement, the kids to leave home, the weather or the economy, that's not living. That's waiting!
Waiting will only leaves us with unrealized dreams and empty wishes.

Lots of riding, beer, more riding, more beer, hang out with friends and do all the things I wasn't able to do while attached.

Re: How do you deal with a breakup???

Do you want the long version, or the short version?

    Answer: Time

Other than that, no one person deals with it the same way. Some get vengeful, some wallow in their sorrows, some completely ignore the impact only to have it hit them like a ton of bricks down the road and then never recover...etc, etc....blah, blah, blah.

Give it time and talk with someone if you need to (yes, a "professional" someone).

Seriously though, spend lots of time with your friends. Plug in your iPod and hit the gym or go riding.

Whatever you do, just don't curl up on the couch with a gallon of ice cream and make yourself feel even more miserable.

What if you just plain couldn't stand the bitch and you were happier than shit to get out? After 14 years of

It was still a giant adjustment in lifestyle, and the hooker killed a couple of my favorite puppies through neglegence, that made me sad, but other than that

Time will let you know if you really cared about the person or not. If you really cared about the person, you want the best for them. If you didn't really care about them, you play the petty one-up game (I'll hurt you more than you hurt me). In the first, if you find you loved them and it wasn't mutual, then you are better off without that person. In the latter, if you don't want the best for them, you are better off without them. So either way, if one decides to go the other is better off without them. Booty call works best

That works as a line too. Its been a while since I have had to use it though. I found my true love.

I'm not calling Ralph fat. But I have heard the words "Fatty fat fat" used around him recently.

    And as Cathy said time.

I would absolutely NOT recommend a booty call or one nighters. That is probably the WORST thing you could do. PM me if you want my reasoning behind this.

And, if you need a booty call I'm sure there's a couple of guys on the board that would be happy to oblige.

Well the majority of folks are talkin' sensible here! lol
I had a real hard time dealing with the circumstances surrounding my incident, but ultimately realize that it was the best thing to happen to me. Hell... that was part of the reason I moved out here to CO... just to get away and start anew!
