Just to get it out... thankfully everyone is alive

So I found out this morning (as did my mom) that her log home in Canada burned to the ground last night. Thank god they weren't there and that the renters go out ok.

The sad part is that my mom essentially lost EVERYTHING she owned. Last fall when they found new renters they entrusted them with everything in the house instead of packing it all up and moving it out like they had done 2 years ago.

I can't even imagine the feelings my mom is going thru right now.

She's flying back up on Saturday to drive to Canada and assess the damages. I may end up driving up with her to keep her company and help her deal with this...

Oh wow, that is terrible - I'm so sorry! I'll be thinking about you, your mom and the renters this weekend.

    Sorry to hear, bro!

Furniture is one thing, but I used to have nightmares about losing all my computer data (my entire business) and important paperwork, mainly pictures. So I bought a big ass gun safe with a HUGE fire rating. It's a lot of piece of mind knowing everything that is irreplaceable is totally safe!!

Sorry to hear Bro. That's a real bad deal, but glad everyone is safe. I know it's not the same but craigslist has a ton of free stuff listed from time to time. Not the greatest but it's something.

Jon, I know you told me on the phone, but I can't remember where you're mom's place is (is it Cranbrook?)... anyway, send me an IM & I'll ping my brother in Kelowna & see if he's got any ideas or contacts there that might be able to help - he's a well-established real estate agent so I'm banking that he knows somebody there.

Jon, I'm so sorry to hear that man. I don't know if there is anything I can do, but you always know I'm willing to help with whatever. We lost our house when I was a kid to a tornado; lost everything from my childhood, it's tough. The most important things are family, health and good memories, the rest are just nice to have.
