Dump the water/water wetter with these cold temps?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but after the Chicane Track Day, I didn't think we'd have any cold temps for me to need to put anti-freeze back...

Bikes in the attached garage (which was 49 degrees when I left the house this morning), but do you experts recommend that I dump the water/water wetter today (before temps get colder)?

you should talk to Jon (player2) about the pitfalls of assumption regarding the very issue.

With a possible low of below 20 degrees I would suggest that you dump the water wetter mix. If the attatched garage is insulated you might be ok but if it drops below freezing for an extended period of time you might be screwed. Easy to just pull the hose and let it all drain out. Thats what I do.

Put a treble light under it for the night, its not going to be sub-zero for days straight.

if it's going to be below freezing overnight you should think about it...

if you want a lazy shortcut put a space heater by the bike or plug in an electric blanket and drape it over the bike

.... or most old school laziest.... take a lamp shade off a lamp, plug it in and place the hot bulb by the radiator/cylinders

    Thanks all for your suggestions.

I think I'm just gonna dump it so I don't have to worry about it at all. Hopefully I make it home today in this damn weather...

Please tell me that I don't have to dump the content of the reservoir though? The 2006 ZX6R coolant reservoir is a bitch and half to get to... My 7R just had it on the side of the bike, but the 6R has it under the freakin' tank!

Just pull a hose by the water pump and take the cap off the reserve then call it good

Re: Dump the water/water wetter with these cold temps?

My attached garage has never dipped below freezing in the ten years we've lived here. Our bikes have had just water in them for years and they're parked up against the door. If your garage does get below freezing, it would have to stay that way for a very, very long time to do anything to your bike.

Put a water bottle in your garage and I bet in never freezes...

I am going to put a heater out there on low just to be safe, probably not necessary but I don't want to get unlucky and have to re-build before the next track day...

It has to get pretty cold outside but stuff freezes in my garage (two walls to the house and two uninsulated to the outside). It didn't last night but I'm not so confident about tonight. (I have a bottle of water out there to tell...)

+1 water bottles freeze in my garage all the time. I have pretty much the same setup as you.

Now, just because its below freezing doesn't mean you will pop your freeze plugs. Takes a while for a whole motor to freeze as compared to a water bottle. But, imo, its not worth risking it. Either dump the fluid or heat the garage. Be on the safe side.

I was coming back from Phoenix last year in January and got to Colorado, where it was snowing. Bikes were in a 30ft trailer. It scared me when our case of water bottles were frozen, however the bikes made it out ok. We stopped at one point to heat the trailer just to be extra careful.

Re: Dump the water/water wetter with these cold temps?

Thanks everyone for your input. I just went ahead and dumped the water/water wetter when I got home today. That way I took any worries out of the equation. I'm one of those folks who wouldn't sleep worrying about this crap, so it's just easier this way!

I can't bring the bike inside with a 2 year old who naturally has 10 redbull worth of energy 24/7.
