    comparable helmets...

So I wear a large in the Shoei RF-1000 series. I'm wondering what else ya'll think I'd be able to wear?
Do the other Shoei lines fit similarly?
I have yet to find an Arai that fits my head and no luck with the Scorpions either unfortunately.... (they all try to flatten my forehead to the point that I have an instant headache as soon as I put them on)

    Re: comparable helmets...

Well you want a new helmet to be on the tight side at first because the material will form around your head over time making a better fit.

The latest Scorpion I bought seems to becoming a better fit quicker than it took the last Shoei I bought. Not sure if that means…

Every person head is a different shape, so If I where you I would go try on one of everything you can find. Because my square head maybe not as round as yours.

Yeah...I was just hoping to cut down on what all to try - so I wouldn't have to start at square one all over again. It takes me fooking FOREVER to find a lid that I like! (which I suppose is a good thing...) Just hoping to have a few ideas of what to try on when I get back home. I'll have to be sporting my old KBC until I get a replacement... and I'm none too happy to be back in that old thing! lol

Hey I look at it this way unless the helmet is reflective its not going to make a diff what color it is.

Yup yup... I like that vid actually!
And finding the fit is a good chunk of the reason it takes me so long to find a lid I like.

Arai helmets come in different shapes:

    http://www.araiamericas.com/default.aspx?pageid=132

My backup race helmet is an RF-1000 and I wore it for a while after trashing my previous Arai RX-7 at Pueblo last year. It was ok. I recently bought a new Corsair-V and when I put it on, it was like "Ahhhhhhhhhh". I have been wearing Arai helmets since 1984. I really like them.

The laws of necessity, of self- preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property, and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

You should buy a big foam cowboy hat, in green. I hear they are one size fits all and that DOT actually MAKES them!!

    Re: comparable helmets...

I'd just hit up the local shops and try stuff on. I got my lid from www.kneedragges.com and www.newenough.com after I tried on locally. They both have really good prices.... I hear nothing but great things about Aria and Shoe but that's just too damm much $$ for a lid when it's not gonna protect me anymore than most of the cheaper ones. Pluss, my AGV is super comfortable for about $260, and I've worn it on a 1000 mile day ride from SoCal to NoCal pluss multiple 400-600 mile days. Maybe find some local and slip it on...
