Yeah, I don't really buy it though. I do agree that the lid MUST FIT PROPERLY but, I have absolutely no doubt that a $700 Aria offers any more protection than a $200 Scorpion. I wouldn't, however go any cheaper than HJC or Scorpion. Brand Name, comfort, styling and extra features are why you pay more, not for more protection, necessarily....

Check out this article. http://www.motorcyclistonline.com/ge...iew/index.html It's a long read but gives some inedible info, and having worked as a test engineer for a few years, I think the info is pretty darn credible.

Suomy Vandals are reasonably priced, comfortable, and a wide range of color schemes, check out www.suomy.com for the latest

Also it just so happens I have Vandals in stock to try on

    Re: comparable helmets...

    Jess,

I'm a big fan of Shoei, so I've had a number of them over the years. Another Shoei model that fits like the Rf1K is the TZ-R.

The Suomy Spec series fits a lot like the shoei as well, but I find the Vandal to be a bit more round (squishes my forehead too).

Arai has different shapes for different models. For example the old Quantum didn't fit me at all, where the corsair fits me well.

For me the Shoei and the Suomy Spec series fit me best.

    Good luck in your search

    Re: comparable helmets...

if you are coming from an RF1k then the suomy's would probably fit your head good. The arai's i tried on seemed to have a more round internal shape, and did not hug the sides of my head very well. I am graduating from an HJC and looking at the RF1K's and the suomy spec 1r's. Both fit me equally well, but the shoei graffics are lacking a bit if you're looking for a loud helmet...

EDIT: +1 RYBO beat me to the punch

Jess - Definitely, at least try on a Suomy, the Vandal or the SpecR1 Extreme. I have a Shoei and a Suomy. Love them and they both fit nice and snug.

I suggest that you get pictures of you in each helmet you try on, and then post the pictures and let us vote on which one you should buy.....
