Why don't you slap some spinners on there too while you're at it

hey, this is just to get an idea if they'll work. i know its not an off-road bike, but that doesn't mean i can't take it down some basic dirt trails around canyonlands if i feel the need

So saying that, what is wrong with the tires that are on your bike now?
I have taken the sportbikes on gravel roads out of Deckers and other areas and really didn't have a problem. Granted, I didn't have enough traction to wheelie, but traveling the on the dirt was/is easy. I would think you could put almost any tire you wanted on your bike, but there is always a compromise.

Re: running dual-sport tube tires on my ninja???

they are sticky street tires that ive caught nails in on two occasions. i have a tire plug kit now, but i rather get something that a meant for both off road and on road if i plan a long distance trip with some moderate dirt roads planned. ive done a few dirt trails too on my street tires (kebler pass to crested butte and CR-27 from rand to gould), and i know that they can work, but as long as im not pushing them on the pavement, i think dual sport tires might be better on certain occasions (not day to day use though)

im really just wondering if i can mount those tube-type tires on my rims, and what i would need to do?

Sure you could but why would you want to?
My 250 does amazing on dirt roads with the street tires. If you think those tires are going to make a bit of difference you are right. They are going to make your street riding suck. And who ever changes your tires will probably charge you more to deal with the tubes.

Wow, after seeing that picture it has helped rekindle my 250 motivation. Maybe, I should do something with that box of parts and two frames in the garage?

Wow he asked one simple question and you guys beat him down to not do it, lol. If the tires are a tube type tire then yes you should use a tube. Take out rubber valve stem and use the right size tube. Who ever makes the tire will be able to give you the correct tube size, just search for their 800 number. Not all rims can use a tube correctly, its trial and error, biggest issue is the stem for the tube having clearance issues.

Thanks jackel. that's good to know.

i think i should just try to find a spare set of rims, and then use those with tube tires so i don't have to mess with the valve stems and can modify the wheel slightly if necessary.
