I've put about 2,400 miles on the Busa and made a note-worthy addition. Givi bags!!! my tires; particularly the aft end... is due for replacement. wear bars YES, cords NO! some thought about an aftermarket exhaust to drop some weight but that would require a PC unit or the like.....

You don't need a PC to use an aftermarket exhaust, you just need one if you want to get the most HP out of it. If weight savings are all you're after, then put on some Ti or carbon cans (Ti may stand up to touring a bit better) and be done. Just get a slip on, unless you want more HP don't bother with a full system.
I decided to bump this thread just becasue it's soooooo long. And the last post was from Jan 17th 2004.
it is good to bump..... the Bus(a) now has over 24,000. i have experienced the limiter on 3 separate occaisions. i've ordered a TRE kit from JSD (Rad Shack doesn't have the inventory they used to have!) so that i'll be able to plug it in-line with stock plugs (3 wires; blu, pink, blk).

Just how fast does the limiter let you go before the fun stops?
in theory, 186 m/h i've pegged the speedo for nearly 30 seconds before the timing falters. gotta run the gps for an accurate reading. unfortunately those special occaisions seem to occur when i haven't got it. the escort 8500 x50 has been a great investment and i use it.

this bus(a) now has about 31,800 miles !!! i had planned to be doing a bbg_insanity this friday thru saturday (23rd, 24th) but the on-coming storm named Rita (and fuel costs) have put the ka-bash on my trip to winnie, tx and back (..... see other post). i would have been hooked to my gps and detector with my loaded tall_tank_bag to see what the top speed would have been (limiter switched OFF)! there will be other times!

I had asked Ralph to give us a forum to discuss and plan for this EPIC RIDE.
Ideally, we will have a few in person get togethers too.
So, who's ready to commit to this ride?
Have you checked out the Iron Butt Association web site to fully understand what you're getting yourself into?
Dates/routes are still up in the air. Some of the things that may want us to change the current dates: 5/24/13-6/1/13 would be things like attending a rally on the way back such as the Honda Hoot or similiar, or shortening or extending the duration.
So if you're seriously considering this ride and know you'll have what it takes to safely make this journey....welcome aboard!!
