Depending on the county and the LEO that issued the ticket.. I've heard that most likely they will show up for court - should you decide to fight it, but who knows... they can really slam it to you then! Maybe you can get some feedback from the LEO's on here.

I don't want to play the see-if-they-show-up-to-court game. I would like to fight it based on the-deputy-clocked-the-lead-rider-and-not-me card.

You can try that, but did the LEO say he clocked the lead rider and not you specifically ? If this is Boulder county and Officer Robinson, just pay it. Or call an attorney and get a free consultation on your case.

I beat a trooper-paced-the-rear-rider-and-not-me ticket in Clear Creek County with no lawyer.

Not sure if its the same out here, but in NY you do not have to be clocked. The average 7 year old can judge speed and be accurate within a 10 mph range. if the speed is high enough the judge will take the cops word.....unfortunately. i think your best bet is to call a lawyer give them the situation and see if they can help you.

Radar, the deputy was driving the opposite direction.

Might be worth fighting in that case
They never really know who it is when there is a group unless it is blatantly obvious (someone flying past everyone).
The one thing that anyone should ask when pulled over for speeding is: When was the last time their radar was calibrated, if it hasn't been calibrated it is not a true reading. Grounds for dismissal. They do have a time line as to how often it needs to be calibrated but I can't remember what it is. I will find out and post it.
So, you can't slow down after the last one?
Simply, you were the easiest one that the officer could catch from the group. It has nothing to do with being the lead rider, dude
Yes, cops will pull you over if you stick out of the crowd or are blatant. And YES, they do have to give a certain # of tickets each week. Some to speeders.
You just happened to be the lucky winner
I too was once an excessive speeder and repeat offender. But, fight this one. Get the points reduced (you don't need an attorney: show up, be respectful and realize it is YOU on trial and NOT the officer - you won't get anywhere with the reverse attempt)
Then slow down and/or stop being the obvious one in your group!

Interesting. I asked my Uncle to talk to some of the guys on the traffic unit in Denver and both denied that they were required to give a total number of tickets each day. He said that their Seargent sets goals for them based on what he/she believes is a productive day. Especially if they are working a high traffic designated area. Part of their evaluations are based on whether or not they are meeting any goals put in place by their supervisors.
When the officer's supervisor sets "X" number of tickets as one of their "goals"... goals are used to evaluate the officer... and evaluations are used to determine the officer's pay raise. I don't think it's that far of a leap to consider that unethical. Especially since most of the ticket proceeds go back to the city ...which then pays the officer.

A few of us got speeding tickets by the infamous officer "Rose" a couple years ago. Me and Adam, did not fight it, got it reduced at court like everyone else does, but Tamara and her friends fought it and won.
You're right, Shit happens.. especially if you're going to speed on occasion. So if you're going to speed, you have to atleast know that you may possibly get stopped for it "on occasion". I'm not attacking or defending Kidicarius, but if you speed, you need to be prepared to take the consequences, don't you think ? Those $200+ fines is the fee you pay to speed..
Believe me, I know!

I had 4 two years ago and 1 last year. This year I will be done with them. The accumulated points to lose your license are 12 in 1 year or 18 in 2 years. I always go to court and the most I have ever received is a 2 point defective vehicle....appearently I have been driving defective vehicles since I was 16.
