    Believe me, I know!
Of course, but that post was condescending in the first place. The OP was merely stating that he got a speeding ticket and didn't really bitch, only wanted advice on what actions to take. I agree that you've got to face the consequences, but saying something like, "you haven't learned your lesson yet?" is pretty obnoxious.

Most of us are going to do whatever possible to get rid of or reduce whatever fine/points we get, so we post here.

My intent was not to be condescending, so my apologies to icarus if he took it that way. But, get smart about where and how you got a ticket the first time and notice that it wasn't the same officer who pulled him over the second time, right? Enough that another officer pulled him over for the same type of offence at a different location and time. So, there's a pattern there and it will continue.

Speeding fines were raised last year statewide, so if you can afford the near double increases, then knock yourself out and speed all ya like. The cops in my family say that if it's anything around five over the limit, it's not worth the paperwork. So, make it at least 10 or over.

However, I doubt that the speeding tickets that the original thread is about weren't less than 10, were they?

Yeah, actually it does take experience to offer the advice I give. For the first 8 years after I got my licence, I basically couldn't drive a block without getting a speeding ticket. (I spent enough time in court fighting tickets that I can easily say now not to waste $ on attorneys. I've questioned officers who pulled me over, on the stand, and realized that the courts will 99.9% of the time sway with the officer even with graphs, calibration tests and timelines... One officer didn't show in court, so that was thrown out. But, many counties and cities require them to appear now if if you take it to trial.)

So, ya know what? I figured out what I was doing wrong, speeding more than those around me and standing out in the crowd so when a cop was around, I was the one with the big target on the hood who got tagged.

For the next 12 years, I didn't get tickets of any kind: I rode a motorcycle and drove obnoxious little cars that were modified and stood out in a crowd, like a hot pink VW bug or the Mini with the Union Jacks all over.

Did I get a ticket again eventually? Yep, going 21 miles over in the Mini because I got stupid and had forgotten my previous lesson. For the last few years, it's sucked not being able to push the litre bike in town and I really contain myself as much as I can. Additionally, now though, I just ride my bicycle on city streets and piss off motorcyclists and cagers.

Instead of getting tickets, the stress of going to court and proving "I wasn't really all wrong, but I feel strongly to defend myself", and paying the extra revenue now, I'd rather just spend it racing or track days.

So, my original question stands, "what are ya learning after speeding ticket #...?"

There's an awful lot of advice being given when it isn't asked for around here? Sure, most of it's meant with the best intentions, but you know what they say about opinions and assholes...(yes I know I'm being hypocritical with that one)

Kid, hope you can beat it and it was great riding with you yesterday. Maybe I'll bring some tape for that kill switch next time.

Passport FTW. And those prices of tickets have been that way in the springs for a few years.

Have you tried it on a motorcycle? Here's a detector designed by a motorcyclist for use on a motorcycle. http://www.adaptivtechnologies.com/

So he was driving the opposite direction when he clocked you with radar? I didn't think LEOs were allowed to do this.

My Valentine1 has saved me from numerous speeding tickets over the years. They are still essentially useless against laser which more and more PDs are using now.

+1 on the Valentine. I did manage to find one of those 5-sec laser blockers made for bikes.... I'll have to find it again.
