I had a V Star 1100, which also had 4K intervals on the valves.
However, it was a real simple job and the valves usually didn't need any adjustment.
Changing the oil filter was more of a bitch than a valve adjustment. The front exhaust pipe had to be removed to get to the oil filter.

Stupidity should be painful.
Could be like Bimota or McClaren where you have to fly a guy out to work on it..
