    Rocky Mountain National Park 05/31

My wife and I will be taking a two-up trip along with a couple of friends through Rocky Mountain National Park on Sunday. For us this will be a scenic ride ridden at The Pace, but all levels of riders are welcome. This trip will be about 230 miles and could take a large part of the day depending on skill levels.
At this point the weather forecast is:
    May 31

    Scattered T-Storms

    75° - High
    54° - Low

    60% chance of rain

Due to the Elevation changes and May weather, layering and rain gear is advised. The cost to go through the park is 10 bucks a person if memory serves me right. Route maps handed out Sunday morning so if you plan to come along please post up.

Edit: We plan on being in Morrison (MoCo) around 8:30 am and leaving by 9-9:15 am. A round trip will bring us back by morrison around 6 ish. but probably earlier.

We will be on the orange CBR600RR

Now this sounds like a good trip.

I'll have to wait to confirm with you later this week, though. I'll call to let you know.

Re: Rocky Mountain National Park 05/31

I was in Grand Lake all weekend and traveled back over the pass on Monday (car). The road was mostly dry with occasional wet spots from runoff. It looks like they incurred a lot of pot holes and minor road damage over the winter. You will hit a number of 100-200 ft. gravel patches the last 10 miles before Grand Lake.

It was pretty damn cold in spots and windy at the top, but I would expect it this time of year.

I would've felt comfortable on a bike. I wish I could tag along, but I have some other activities planned that weekend. Damn.

BTW - 11 Moose sightings in 2 1/2 days was a little surprising.

Thanks for the update Powers. The conditions sound right for this time of year. Unless my sense of reason (wife) puts a stop to the ride or it snows heavily, I'm going up and over.

Glad to see ya. Post ONE! Sorry Gary is sick. Warm gear since we will probably get rain and the park will be cool up top. I will have bags to carry extra layers when you strip them off.

    C Ya Sunday

We are meeting at the Conoco in Morrison.

    Morrison, CO 80465

How new are you? If you feel comfortable riding in the mountains, can do the speed limit and able to do 230 miles then you are probably qualified and should have a good time. If you are interested and don't want to come down the mountain, PM me and we can set up a meeting place closer to you.

You should ride on Sunday since the MC dealers are closed anyways. Shop on Monday.

My brother in law rode his bicycle up Trail Ridge last weekend and he said the roads were very clean. Of course he was in clouds for the top quarter of the mountain with twenty feet of visibility, but the roads were clean.

Good to know. The road conditions don't concern me as much as the elevation. Don't know why but I get above the tree line and my fears take over. All I can see while riding are cliffs.

It would be nice to head out by 9 am.

If you’re running late call me and we can wait a few.
