some exhaust shops will do it. there's a guy here in loveland that can and he also rebuilds factory cans with race baffles and new packing for a very reasonable price

Michael. Awesome. Stop yelling. Take yiur system to a good muffler shop and get a SS or Ti flanged mid pipe.

lol sorry about the all caps. and ok how much will it run me you think?
Damn, why's everyone gotta bite my rhymes yo!
See if you can fine someone on the board who welds, then it's just gonna be finding a straight pipe to switch out for it

i'm sure you could go to home depot and rig something up out of some water pipe, or some EMT...maybe even buy somebody a sixxer to welder it up for you...
in all seriousness though...why? You would probably want to get a new tune, or possibly a custom map, which would correlate to dyno time...all of these things cost money as well. you must ask yourself if it's worth the hassle...
maybe this is my age showing...but...IMO save yourself the trouble, spend the money on gear, and just ride the damn thing....
i already have a power commander and someone that will dyno tune for me
1. Remove stock muffler.
2. Find broomstick.
3. Jam that stick through the cat until all catalyzer is gone.
4. Laugh (cause you just a** raped your own bike).
5. Use shop vac to remove debris from pipe.
6. Install slip on.
7. Ride!
is it really that easy? what happens if some of the piece dont come out? and will it be fast by gutting it?
No, but it will be louder. I dunno how significant that is to you. Also, your pipes won't run as hot as they do with the cat in there.
12 pounds of weight? are you sure that isn't the savings you get when you put on a full system? Someone gutted and weighed a cat on this thread I read, and total weight of all that metal was less than 2 pounds. He was bummed.
I had to do the opposite in a car once, get a section of straight pipe cut out and have a cat welded in. I went to Midass. Don't have the bill anymore, but pretty sure the labor was under $100. Took 'em 10 minutes. I would borrow a welder and do it myself next time.
I was mostly joking man. Sorry. If you're spending the money on a PC and tuning, do it right and go to a good exhaust shop (preferably with MC experience) and pay the $$$.
I've heard some pipes with the cat removed and they sound really sloppy and absolutely annoying (like D&D annoying). But maybe on a selected few bikes it sounds good, and to save 2 pounds. Stop eating for 2 days or get on Jenny Craig....I would buy a slip-on or exhaust that will gain HP that has a nice crisp sound.
Before you give "SURPRISE BUTTSEX, or ASS-RAPE" to your pipe, make sure you do your homework. Just my opinionz.
